I'm not a huge dessert fancier (which is why I'm not even more huge than I already am), but I've had a couple of wondrous ones lately. Specifically, the goat cheese flan at Mojito and Marsha's strawberry tiramisu at L&N.

The chocolate trio at the Oakroom is mighty worthy, too. And the homemade ice creams at Bistro New Albany, when they have them. [pokepoke]

I'm sure there are more ... In the realm of the exotic, I like the Vietnamese desserts at Cafe Annie and the Indian rice pudding (kheer?) and rosewater-scented cake balls (gulab?) at India Palace.

But those listed above stand out in my recent memory, and I'd gladly go for any of 'em right now.

I second those amazing sorbets at Bistro New Albany--all their desserts were great, but that stuff was sublime! Can't wait to try the pear! (poke again!)

Hubby and I are fans of the chocolate mousse at Diamante. When they have it. (poke, poke, poke) :?

Deserts

My favorite sweet treat is a chocolate shake from 31 Flavors, but I have them use World Class Chocolate instead of vanilla ice cream AND have them leave the chocolate sauce in (they usually leave it out when you use chocolate ice cream).

Talk about rich and delicous. Try it next time.

Graeter's makes a decent chocolate shake also, but you have to use their regular chocolate ice cream, which IMO isn't as good as the World Class Chocolate at 31 Flavors for shake making.

Pretty much any chocolate shake anywhere would work as a substitute. Chcolate shakes are like lovers, even bad ones are still pretty good.

I'm glad you liked my tiramisu, Robin! Believe it or not, I'm not a big dessert eater, either (I much prefer cheese to sweets), which is probably why my mouth waters whenever someone posts about that goat cheese flan at Mojito - I gotta get me some of that!

Here' a picture of my tiramisu:

the desserts at Cafe' Metro/Uptown are amazing.... the Concorde, Gateau Ganache, and Mocha Dacquoise specifically
the 'Gooey Cake' at Z's... regardless of what flavor it is on any particular day, it's pretty much guaranteed to be sublime
my Mom's pumpkin ginoise(sp?) with hazelnut buttercream and also her Tiramisu cheesecake, for me personally, do indeed...................'take the cake'

honorable (and nostalgic) mention has to go to S'mores and Superman ice cream....seperately, of course
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy

Does anyone make a good bananas foster here in town? I saw a special on them on Food Network last night and they looked really good.

Ahem....

L & N is also serving my Bananas Foster Blue Dog Bread Pudding. Bread pudding made with Blue dog baguettes, pound cake, raisins and bananas, topped with candied pecans, drenched in a rich sauce made entirely of butter, brown sugar, banana liqueur and dark rum.

We were gonna take it off the menu for spring, but....their patrons just keep ordering it. And ordering it.... :)

I didn't try it, but Lindy Novak from Spottswoode had it when we had that small wine-geek session with her last week, and she kept gasping and making little nummy noises all the way through it ...
