La Rosita Mexican Grill/Tacos La Rosita

by J Dylan » Fri Apr 10, 2009 11:51 pm

As a new resident to the area, I get the pleasure of experiencing the amazing local restraurants for the first time. Last night, I had carry-out from La Rosita Mexican Grill. The food was outstanding.

I ordered the Tacos Deluxe. Per the menu, "Double corn tortilla, lettuce, tomato, onion, cilantro,
cheese, sour cream and your choice of meat." I had two of the shredded beef and one of the steak.

Immediately after opening the container, I realized I ordered too much food. Immediately after taking my first bite, I realized I did not order too much food.

If you have not been to this restaurant yet, you need to this weekend. Don't get my wrong, I love fancy gourmet food, but nothing beats having the availability of amazing carry-out food from an independent, quick-in/quick-out restaurant.

The habanero sauce was amazing as well. I am dipping my horrible frozen pizza into it at this exact moment.

Great post
but there's no reason to eat frozen pizza around the sunny side of louisville when the CPC & NABC can satiate your appetite
Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza. D Barry

You've yet to eperience the drowned burrito.

Rosita's is a treasure, and three blocks from my house (cue Ignatius J Reilly: "Alarming weight gain.")

It's the best. Period. I live 4 blocks from there and just walked home after an extremely satisfying meal of Enchiladas Poblanas.

Ah, so you were right across Grant Line Road from our original location. Since Tacos La Rosita moved there, I believe Israel has paid the rent off our staff alone.

Between your staff and me, he can surely afford a bigger taco stand by now! :)

Okay so Tacos La Rosita is across Grant Line Road from Rich O's? I have been really wanting to try La Rosita but was sketchy on its location, but I know right where that is.

Tacos La Rosita is the taqueria interface, and indeed is located across Grant Line Road from NABC, perhaps two hundred yards as the crow flies. Coming from the Interstate, it is in the strip mall complex on the right just before University Woods Drive (on the left). The menu is stripped down to the basic core, and there's no alcohol.

La Rosita Mexican Grill is at 1515 E. Market, a block west of Vincennes Street, and a stone's throw from the venerable Tommy Lancaster's Restaurant. We'd call that location "uptown" but you need not do so. The menu at the Market Street location is larger, and there's bottled Mexican beer.

Mm, both sound great. Thank you for the helpful explanation of their locations, Roger. I've had really bad luck lately in driving up to Southern Indiana in search of the good restaurants and ending up getting lost and coming home.

The drawback to this place is if you're allergic or cannot palate an ingredient in one of the dishes. They are inconsistent on their policy of making a dish to order.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

I have always found them very consistent.... no substitutions or deletions :)

Laura - did you read my mind??? I was contemplating going to La Rosita tonight! Between that, or Senior Iguanas (had both sites up when I came back to this board!). I'm starving though, and don't know that I can wait for hubby to get home for dinner, and EVERYTHING sounds good to me right now!!!!
