Seviche NOT CLOSING!!!

by Anthony Lamas » Fri Apr 10, 2009 11:05 am

I'm sure this is going to dissapoint those Haters out there, but we are NOT CLOSING. I would be a liar to say we're not struggling. Some staff at a restaurant downtown, told friends of mine, that I had resumes out everywhere in town and that we were closing. I have heard this for weeks now, even from a vendor in town. I am always honest with my staff, and let them know how things are and unless we tighten up labor, food, etc, costs I will have to let some people go. If anyone has my resume out there please come forward and prove me wrong. In fact, I have'nt had a resume put together in over 10 years. So, stop the *#@"^%! rumors !!! I think closing is possible for anyone right now, becuase times are tough, but I am not at that point yet. If I lost power for a week or some major equipment went out, it would be very difficult to recover. I just had renovations done inside, bought new bar equipment, have an Ad. with Hotbytes and Food and Dining. If I was thinking about closing, I would'nt spend money on this stuff. I also plan to get new signs, because the sun has fadded my current ones. I know there is some old Jicama staff that work downtown and maybe the Chef has some beef with me, but come see me in person, if you have questions about my buisness. I am told that we are one of the top 5 restaurants in the city and the critics have raved, so enough said. Sorry HATERS, you're just going to have to deal with it, but I'm NOT CLOSING. Robin, sorry about the rant, but one of my best friends just called me, so I had to get this off my chest. I appreciate all the people who have come to me with these false rumors.

Thanks for the well-done rant, Anthony! I'm sorry you had to deal with the rumor mill, but appreciate your making use of the forum to spread the word.

I will say that the large and happy HotBytes crowd at Monday's Hats Off Online will be happy, but not surprised, to know that there's a strong future for Seviche. I can testify that the spirit I saw there Monday, in the front and back of the house and in the food, was not that of a restaurant in trouble. You guys rock!

Seeing "Seviche" and "closing" in the same sentence nearly gave me a heart attack. I took my wife on our first date at Seviche (and even proposed there). My wife and I always recommend Seviche to everyone as it is our favorite restaurant in Louisville (and it never disappoints). Considering the wonderful collection of restaurants here, that is a quite a statement. Anthony, the wife and I will be in soon to show our support, the city would not be the same without Seviche

Well, of course it's not.

Anybody creating those rumors should be shot- to try to hurt anyone's livelihood is reprehensible. But the thought is ludicrious and the rumor will be discounted by anyone with any knowledge of the local food scene.

Anthony- I know it's very hard, but just ignore them now that you've clarified for everyone. And keep making some of the finest food in town. This will be "yesterday's news" by tomorrow.

All the best-
Deb

Well now, THAT is some crazy stuff. I hadn't heard anything about this, but obviously it was born from a hollow seed by someone with desperation in the heart. Good grief, Lamas. You're the champ.

It's interesting to note, by the way, that the Seviche drive-by shootings on this forum came to an almost instant stop when we came over to the new software that requires people to register with their real Email and (at least on the honor system) their real name.

Heard the rumor a month ago but it seemed so crazy I didn't even give it a second thought. People are jealous, bottom line. Keep up the great work Anthony and team and keep fighting through these tough times!

Anthony, I think that Kris hit the nail on the head. Others are jealous of your success. I also agree with Deb, that those creating this rumor should be shot. I am also for shooting those who perpetuate the rumor. I will see you Wedndesday at the great Cuban Latino Wine Dinner.

Kind of a weird thread because I never saw or heard "the rumor".

Read Anthony's original post more carefully, Mark. He didn't say the rumor originated or was promulgated here.

Class and excellent service/product will always win out.My grandmother always said, "The cream always rises to the top." I have no doubt you and Seviche will be with us when these rough times blow past us.
