Pictures!! from Hats On Offline at Seviche 4/6/09

Calm before the storm

Water, beer and beverage lists

The menu

Image

My favorite section of the menu - beef

Image

Artsy atmospheric picture of John's reflection in the window in front of a patio vase

Image

Roma tomato, mozzarella, basil lemon vinaigrette, veal demiglace/balsamic reduction - I think. Crap, I forgot to take a picture before I took a bite. Way to go, food stylist.

Image

Mary and Robin, looking totally fly

Image

The stunning Deb

Image

Phil G's wife Donna and Carolyne

Image

Ground Angus Empanada, chimichurri, veal demiglace reduction

Image

Phil (this event's inspiration) never stood still long enough for me to get a good candid portrait!

Image

"Leche de Tigre" halibut seviche shooter with a big kick

Image

Another picture of the seviche just for the halibut. I couldn't decide between the two.

Image

Heather arrives

Image

Jackie already had a beer in her hand before I even knew she was there.

Image

I love this shot. That's the backs of Gayle, Mary and Joseph M for the win with the umbrella chapeau

Image

We only get a taste of Gary in his dirndl...

Image

...and then he switches to a just-as-cool-if-not-better "Le Picard" beret, which he bought at a yard sale in France. How elite of him! I just knew you were a dirty beret-wearing liberal, Fox.

Calve's liver skewers with carmelized onion, Pt. Reyes Blue Cheese, cilantro oil

Richard and Suzi

Image

Jackie, Heather, Catherine. Meow!

Image

Hey, there's that first dish again! Without a bite out of it!

Image

Melissa, Tom, Mandy

Image

Chicken empanadas

Image

My sweet, sweet Churrascos (marinated skirt steak with asparagus, chimichurri and red potato mash). Heaven on a white plate.

Image

My favorite picture of the night. The staff wore hats, too! Look how great they look, Anthony's familia. I have a better, bigger, hi-res version that I'll deliver to the restaurant as a thank you.

Service was great, company was great, food was great, it felt good to be wearing hats inside on a cold rainy early evening. Good times. Thanks a million again, Anthony and everyone at Seviche.

If anyone else has pictures, please post them here!

What great pix of a super fun evening. It was so much fun being just a little silly, or in my case perhaps a bit more than a little.
Thanks to Anthony, Aude, and especially Kathryn and Shelly for the fine service.

It certainly was a grand evening! The pictures are great!

Thanks to Anthony and the staff at Seviche for the wonderful food and the warmth and frivolity.

Thanks to Robin G. for being the true inspiration for not only this "Hats Off" evening, but also for our involvement in this "Hotbytes" forum.

Thanks to Gary F. for planning this event.

Great pictures and details Marsha! I took pictures also, but I am much slower in getting them from the camera to the forum. Hopefully by the end of the day.

It was an absolute blast! Anthony and the wonderful staff keep an amazing array of delightful "little bites" coming to us! I enjoyed everything! For my dinner I had the spinach appetiser (OMG too good!) and the mussel appetiser (Caliente! Ohhhh lala)

It was a lot of fun putting faces to avatars and names! I enjoyed meeting everyone especially those with whom I sat and got to know; Joe and Gayle and Steve and Jackie and Heather and Catherine and, of course Phil and Donna! I am offiicially hooked on offlines now. So, where to next???? LOL

Great pics Marsha! It was a really nice evening. I enjoyed spending more time with Catherine, and getting to know Phil and Donna, and reminiscing with Jackie! Of course, hangin' with Deb and Gary at the end of the evening topped it all off!

The food was delicioso, and Chef Anthony was a wonderful host.
His staff looked so chic in their hats, and were very helpful in choosing a wine to go with my seafood stew!

If you get an opportunity to attend an offline, I highly recommend it!

Next one..... Brownings with Chef Anoosh?

Marsha,

I've been sort of shopping for a camera. Which camera did you use for these photos you posted? I'm sure I'd be happy with a camera of this quality.

John got it for me as a gift - it's an HP Photosmart "R" Series Camera - number R727, 6.2 megapixels. It's a couple years old, there's probably a fancier "R" series by now.

Pros: Holds over 1400 photos, takes great pictures in natural light, has a short video recording feature with sound, giant digital viewscreen, great customization capabilities with the settings. Great macro photos.

Cons: There is no viewfinder. Which seems like it won't be a problem what with the large viewscreen - until you get out into bright, bright sunlight. Then you can't see the image on the screen at all, and it's hard to aim the camera. Also, it won't hold your settings while the camera's off. So if you want to take a few pictures and you have it all adjusted for the light and everything, and then you don't use it for 5 minutes and it shuts itself off, well - you have to turn it back on and reset all those settings. Annoying.

What a great time!!! I felt like I was having tea with Alice in Wonderland. I think Smiley spiked the mushroom empanada's ? It was very nice to meet all of you and I look forward to the next offline.
Thank you Anthony for hosting and thanks to the staff for the great service. Thanks to Robin for such a great forum here. Thank you Joseph for not being a Serial killer. You owe me a ride next time.

You guys rock,

Steve

". . . tea with Alice in Wonderland" That was a good line, Steve. :)

I, too, had a wonderful evening. Excellent food, great camaraderie. Who could ask for anything more?

My hat goes off to Anthony, chef and host par excellence, the staff for their on spot service, Gary for organizing this stupendous off line. to Marsha for the super pictures and, last but not least, to Robin for hosting this awesome website which made it all possible.
