Wedding Caterer Suggestions?

by Mandy R » Tue Apr 07, 2009 12:02 am

A couple of friends are getting married at the end of August and came to me asking if I had any suggestions on who they could contact for the catering. They also asked what could be considered a reasonably low price for the event, there will be 100 guests. Any suggestions?

Oh! Almost forgot, would any of you have contacts for DJs? Apparently they are having great difficulty locating one, and I figured a few people could toss out a name or two. Thanks!

Asiatique, something out of the ordinary and reasonably priced. Contact Richard 502.451.2749.

Welll, since I'm in the wedding business . ..

DJ = All Pro Entertainment

Other vendors = check the Louisville Wedding Network http://www.LouisvilleWeddingNetwork.com

This is a group of local vendors who work together on a week in and week out basis. If you choose multiple vendors from the network you get a discount.

And yes, I'm a member.

I recently had Les Naiman's catering at a work event. It was really good and he was very nice! I would definitely recommend the crab cakes. I believe he's also in the Louisville Wedding network.

Although I'm not planning an event that would need one, I'd be very interested in hearing DJ suggestions (on a food forum, of all places).

Judging from the weddings I've attended, finding a good DJ is not a sure thing.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

Joel H's girlfriend (Kim Sorise) is one of the best DJs in town, but I don't know if she does weddings. If she does, I'd snap her up.

We had our ( outside tent ) wedding catered by The Patron and the food was fabulous! Can't remember the budget though...

Also, they may want to consider going with an afternoon ceremony and reception- doing a fantastic lunch/reception for 100 is far less expensive than a dinner ( less liquor too).

I play keyboards for many, many weddings and I hear good and bad DJs. Marshall Yancey is great. Twilight entertainment is also good. Les Naiman catered for us once and did an outstanding job. Now that Michelle Clem (Melillo's) is closed, she may be willing to cater. She does a mean party.

Where are they having reception? Some places will only let you use select caterers.

I had already thought of that but they told me they already ordered the cake...thank you for all the great suggestions, I will give them to the couple in the morning. I would have responded earlier, but it looks like my modem has decided to stop working and Insight is sloooow on coming out to replace things like that, sorry!
