Food Network’s Chef Guy Fieri to host Marriott Oaks Bourbon Brunch

Event to benefit Home of the Innocents, feature Kentucky Proud products

Louisville, KY (3/30/09) – The Louisville Marriott Downtown and the Home of the Innocents have partnered for the addition of a new Kentucky Oaks event: the Marriott Oaks Bourbon Brunch. The event, benefiting the Home of the Innocents, will entertain and cater to a wide-range of guests including corporate parties, civic and community leaders, high-profile Derby attendees and local and national media.

Food TV chef Guy Fieri will be host. Using Kentucky Proud ingredients and traditional southern elements, Fieri will prepare bourbon-based courses in a southern-style menu.

Fieri is the host of several shows on the Food Network, including Guy’s Big Bite; Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives; and Ultimate Recipe Showdown. He first appeared as the winning contestant on the show The Next Food Network Star. In addition to his work on the Food Network, Fieri is a television spokesman for the restaurant T.G.I. Friday’s. His newest show, Guy Off the Hook, premiered late last year. Fieri is also the co-owner of five restaurants in California, including three Johnny Garlic’s and two Tex Wasabi’s.

“The goal is to create a new Kentucky Oaks tradition,” said Michael Howerton, Market Vice President for the Louisville Marriott. “This event will ... benefit a great cause. The Home of the Innocents is a local charity that serves our community in a number of ways. We are proud to partner with them in this new tradition,” he said.

The full program features a three-course traditional Southern brunch and a silent auction, with drinks by mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim. The hotel pledges that 100 percent of proceeds from the event will go directly to Home of the Innocents, the region’s open arms to children in crisis.

The Marriott Oaks Bourbon Brunch will be held at the Louisville Marriott Downtown on May 1, 2009. For more information, to purchase tickets or for sponsorship opportunities, visit

I don't know why they don't include this info in their press release, but I looked it up and it's $125 per person or $1000 for a table of 8. Seems perfectly reasonable considering it's Derby Week and it's 100% proceeds to a worthy charity.

Somebody on the forum here was just saying the other day how much they like Guy Fieri. Pretty sure it was Roger Baylor ;) Heh.

Wasn't me, but I like Fieri. He can be a little annoying at times, but DD&D is good and if you watch his cooking show, he's not bad.

I actually think he's a great "tv chef" - and I don't mean that disparagingly (would that someone would offer me the job!). I really did think he was the right choice to win "the Next Food Network Star", and obviously they like him.

Doesn't he shill for a chain restaurant?

You mean he cooks, too?

I love Guy on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives! I forgive him for being on Friday's commercials. But Robert can NOT forgive him for wearing his sunglasses backwards on the back of his head all the time! hehe
