It's not a bad building but I'm not very sure about the location. It's certainly doesn't have much visibility to traffic over them residents of the area. It'll take a good bit of advertising to draw people to it. Seviche had a good product, local recognition and reasonable pricing, they even tried some half price promotions and other things in a still failed in that location. With all the available sites in Louisville I would think you can find something better.

I have to agree that there are better locations for a new Furlong's than the old Seviche location.

In fact, I hear there's a spot open on Bardstown Road...

That spot is not good. Seviche was amazing and I still feel the loss as noted in another thread.

Tommy, I think a Furlongs would be good there. There was more to Service closing than location and I think Furlongs is a little less upscale which would be more appealing.

How can there be 2 different restaurants with the same name within a couple of miles of each other.

I know, 2 different Impellizzeri's. That was a legal agreement between Benny and his brother from years ago.

All I know is, that I put my heart and soul in my restaurant. So, I'm a little sensitive when someone makes a comment about why the restaurant closed. My staff and I worked very hard and did our best, to put the best product out day in and day out. From Gary, Shelly, Kate, Patrick, to the kitchen, we did our best. I'm proud to have worked with so many great people and they will always have a piece of my heart. I was lucky enough, to have brought some of them to Bardstown Rd. Thank you all who supported us in the Goose Creek location.

I have no dog in that fight, and probably shouldnt even post on it...but the way I took his statement was perhaps a nod towards the down turning economy.I dont know...
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

That, and the demographics of the immediate area, people who thought Seviche was a Mexican restaurant. I don't think any foodie in town feels that the restaurant's failure was related in any way to its quality or style.

While some may have thought Seviche was a Mexican restaurant, I really don't think that that had an impact; most people in the burbs have this new thing out called "cable tv" - or the even newer "satellite tv" or "Internet" - and we tend to know what seviche means even if we don't eat it. Yes, I've also read of the people who came in wanting a taco, but I really think the economy changed just at the wrong time, and the people in that area couldn't justify spending that much for dinner.

Furlongs - while less expensive - is still at a higher level than many of the places around there. If one thought the economy was truly improving, then it's a great idea. If one thought the economy would still be down for a year, then maybe it's not such a great idea.

We thought Seviche was wonderful. We ate there irregularly, as right now we aren't eating out as much as we did last year. While we don't think Furlongs is in the class of Seviche, we do like it, but wonder if people in the area would support it at its price point to the degree necessary for success.

Andrew, believe me, I am not painting all suburbanites with a broad brush. For the record, when I worked at the papers, Mary and I lived in Devondale near Ballard High School.

I can tell you, though, that we ate at Seviche Bistro fairly often - I loved that place - and it was really startling to me what a large percentage of its clientele went directly to the few generally recognizable names of Mexican dishes on its Nuevo Latino menu. I started worrying about its long-term prospects the first time I saw this during lunch, when the kitchen was practically slammed with orders for guacamole.

My very first job was at Sizzler on Goose Creek Road. I know the exact spot. For what it's worth (in my opinion), you'll not have much traffic; even less visibility from Westport road.

Hey Tommy - RT here. I would think a great fit would be to set up shop in the Highlands. Furlong's would be unique to the area and talk about traffic!

A couple recent openings come to mind:

Old Judge Roy Beans/Big Dave's Outpost location is open (corner of Bardstown Rd & Speed Ave).

Karma Cafe spot is newly available (1126 Bardstown Rd)
