Small Times Closed

by Kris Billiter » Wed Mar 25, 2009 9:07 am

So, for whatever reason I have been hesitant to post this, but Small Times is closed. Maybe someone else posted it, but I haven't seen it. I went by on Friday the 13th and there were signs posted speaking of a family emergency and that they were temporarily closed. Unfortunately they never reopened. I talked with Amy, the owner, a few days later and she confirmed they were closed for good. She mentioned too much overhead and not a strong desire to be a commercial bakery, which would have been necessary to really thrive. It is a big loss. They made some really good stuff and had a great and friendly staff. I was in there several times a week, and already really miss them. They had a good thing going, but it didn't work out. If any of the crew there reads this, you all did an amazing job and are greatly missed.

Noooooo!!! I never made it in! I got there at 3:30 on a Saturday once, only to discover that they had closed at 3:00. I never got to try their pretzel bread! *sob* :(

They were lovely people with the best doughnuts in town and fantastic pretzel bread. Maybe later they could reopen under different circumstances. Regardless.... some bakery should grab up Amy as a chef or at least a consultant. She's an amazing baker.

I honestly feared for their longevity with the prices they were charging. They were unreasonably low.
And I am always extremely sorry to see an independent, small biz go.
