Question for the pros!

by Sally M » Mon Mar 23, 2009 10:38 am

I was happy to learn a few months ago that the Cafe Killimanjaro lady has a little lunch cafe located, I think, on First between Market and Main.

Anyone know it's name and whether it is still there?

I walked by it a few months ago. It's menu was limited and my favorites were still on it! And now, my colleagues want to go find her for lunch later this week.

Thanks!

Sally,

The last time I was there was 4 months ago, so can't speak to that ( don't work downtown anymore). I'll check with a friend on the name.

They had a booth at WorldFest last fall, and the Ethiopian food was extremely good, even under those tough conditions (chafers, quick service on cardboard plates, etc.) I've been meaning to go check it out ever since, d'oh!

Sally,

No problem. Note that this location has both Ethiopian and Southern specialities ( eg fried chicken, greens). I guess they needed to diversify to draw enough of the downtown lunch crowd/ catering. The one time I was there, it seemed like my friend and I were the only ones ordering the Ethiopian foods...

Enjoy!

Wow. Weird. The little "Cafe Saffron" or whatever it was on 5th was persian and southern. I think it's all southern food now.
