Good local restaurant to have a business reception?

by Jean P » Thu Mar 19, 2009 5:04 pm

Looking for a nice local restaurant with a seperate room to have an afternoon business meeting/reception with cocktails and appetizers - estimate between 25-35 people. Ideas? My brain is dead as it is close to 5 pm.

If it is after 5p.m., I would also say Jarfi's. They are masters of the business reception having done many for Humana over the years.

Trying to accomodate those who might work in the east end of the city without having to drive downtown at 4-4:30 in the afternoon, but also accomodate those from downtown who would come because it would be on the way home. I immediately thought of Limestone, but Hurstbourne Pkwy at that time of day can sometimes be a bear. The suggestions on Frankfort or the north side of town would be good. I didn't know about Volare having a room or L&N, so those are both good.

More than anything else, I was trying to think of someplace that might be a draw because generally an invitation to a business meeting at the end of the day needs to be intriguing to get my attention.

L&N is perfect, then. It's sort of off in the corner of the traffic. 897-0070. Call and ask for Nancy, or Len, or Rick Adams the chef.

Monday-Thurs you can have either Impellizzeri's to yourself. We don't open till 4pm. So the whole restaurant is yours. No better finger food than pizza. We will do a buffet at a fixed cost per. Both locations have full bars.

When we ate at Le Relais, they were hosting a presentation by a pharmeceutical company in the next room. I found Le Relais quite excellent, although I do not see much written about it on this forum.

In addition to all the other good advice you've received, Jean, consider Corbett's - An American Place, which has a number of separate rooms, some of them specifically designed for business meetings and equipped with audio-visual equipment and such.

Sort of between downtown and the East End, I would suggest Avalon as well. I am hearing good things about their revamped menu, and that style of food might be good for a large group. I think they have a private room (but am not sure), but they do have that upstairs upstairs area as well.
