Frankfort Ave. Margarita

by Phil Gissen » Tue Mar 17, 2009 6:46 pm

After my shopping spree at Carmichael's, I needed a drink. Thus, I walked to Aztecas and wanted a Margarita, In my very pretentious, but truly appreciative way, asked for a Reposado with Cointreau and lime juice shaken and poured over the rocks. They looked at me like I asked for prostate surgery. Was that such a weird request? Please help me adjust...........................................

You might have done better at El Mundo across the street. The Aztecas/Nopalito/Tarasco local chains are good for a hearty Mexican-style meal, but they're not really aimed at an upscale audience, and I would expect bar service to be rather basic.

I second going to El Mundo across the street. Best margaritas in the city. However, more than 2 of those margaritas you may need to call a cab instead of walking home.

No El Mundo. El Mundo closed. Had to do El Loco.

You do have a way with words, Phil!

I had to edit this, because I don't.

We also get a good Margarita at North End when Kristin is at the bar.We were having one on our front porch tonight, about the same time you were wandering Frankfort Ave. If I had known there was a fellow lover in the neighborhood, I would have whistled.

Something must be in the air, I am enjoying a homemade margarita with my very own sour mix right now after a long day of work. It must be the sun and warm weather, I wish it would stick around.

Phil if you are a margarita fan then you have to come and try the Asiarita. It is Asiatique's signature cocktail that will surely give any other a run for it's money.

Phil,
A man who knows how to order a Margarita! After decades of synthetic tequila, "sour mix", Rose's Lime juice, frozen, flavored, sugared, .99 cent crap, I'm glad to see that someone still knows what Margarita is!! Keep educating the other bartenders. (And no mix; please, no mix. If they use mix, abuse them unmercifully.)

Thank you Issac, you are a man of my own persuasion. As a teacher for most of my life, there is nothing wrong with making a little suggestion to make something better. A margarita mix often kills the intent of the drink. Thank you for your support.

I follow the same school of thought when it comes to a bloody mary. Tomato or V8, dedent vodka, then roll out the lemon, spice, and vegetable. I get a little wave a nausea at the thought of Mr T's or Zing Zang. I'm a deep lover of Miss Mary.

Jackie,
Have you ever tried Beefamato as a base for a Bloody Mary. It is a great foundation.
