Vietnam Kitchen

by Carol C » Mon Mar 16, 2009 8:40 pm

Thursday I am going to Vietnam Kitchen with some friends for the first time. None of us have been before. Knowing this is a "Forum Favorite", I would appreciate any recommendations. I like flavorful, but not terribly hot, dishes. Looking forward to all suggestions. Thanks.

K6, K8 and the beef and tendon Pho are my favorites(of what I've tried so far.) The spring rolls are really good too. I believe they can adjust the spice to your liking on just about any dish. Enjoy, it's one of the best restaurants in town.

The Bahn Mi sandwiches are great if your going for lunch.

They have pictures, Carol! And even though you can't taste them, that's how I always decide. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu (as far as flavor) if you're basing your order on the right protien and veg that suits you ~ and it's the type of place that warrants return. The spicy dishes that cannot be adjusted are denoted.

I usually get something soupy with tofu. The protiens on almost everything are interchangable.

Does Vietnam Kitchen have Bahn Mi? I would love that, but in the past, I don't believe it's been on the menu.

Can't go wrong with noodle dishes. I've had a duck special there that was real good. I tend to stay away from "pork cakes" and similar meat compounds - a bit too much for me.

You can't really go wrong. Everything I've had there has been amazingly good. If it sounds good, you can pretty much bet it will be!

I love the N1 - sizzling catfish in the hot stone pot. I get it with tofu instead of fish though. But my husband eats the catfish version and we both love our respective choices. In fact, we both love it so much we have a hard time choosing anything else. And I think their hot/sour soup is the best I have ever had.

I've never had anything bad there, but one of my favorites is the mock duck with green beans.

Vegetable dumplings (app) are also quite tasty.

You have to ask. I believe they only do it for lunch. The combo variety has pate and head cheese and the other is with the awesome charbroiled pork. They both are great and are served on very good quality french bread.
