10 Top Foods I can not live without

by Deb Hall » Sat Mar 14, 2009 12:53 pm

Saw this on epicurious, and it got me thinking about what my "foods I can't live without" are.

http://www.epicurious.com/articlesguides/blogs/editor/2009/03/the-top-ten-foo.html

Here's my list, What's yours ( in priority order)?

Diet Coke ( I'm so ashamed to admit it  )
Cheese
Good crusty bread
Wine
Garlic
Pasta
Garden- fresh Tomatoes
Baby Salad Greens
Proscuitto
Potatoes

(I'm thinking olive oil doesn't count as a food- if it did it would be near the top of my list)

All right, so I read the article and all the lists posted there. The article stated ". . .listed our top ten foods we must have in order to really enjoy life. Bacon, popcorn, and pita chips were ubiquitous. Here is my list of the foods I need to have, if not daily, then almost every day."

With the exception of sea salt, fresh ground pepper, olive oil, and probably garlic, there are really no foods that I need to have almost daily. I love too many foods! Oh I agree with the garden ripe tomatoes, but that is true for three months at the most, the rest of the year I shun tomatoes.

Bacon, popcorn, and pita chips? I could easily go the rest of my life without popcorn or pita chips. The only time I really have an overwhelming desire for bacon is when garden ripe tomatoes are available and then made to choose between the two the tomatoes would win hands down.

Some days I drink coffee, some tea, eh! I think if I were to list a liquid it would be wine. red wine, Pinot Noir.

I couldn't live without fish, particularly salmon, or spinach, but two or three times a week is sufficient. Daily? Almost every day? Nah!

Now, if I were to create a list of my top ten favorite foods it would be another matter.

Look, I've thought about this, and I just refuse to participate, because in some post-apocalyptic future, it will get thrown in my face somehow, I just know it!

You guys have fun. There's no way I'm actually making a list of only 10 favorites. Carry on.
