I remember the Rib Crib! Featured it among Louisville's best in a Scene cover story back in ... oh, '88, '89, somewhere around there. Great place for urban-style barbecue. Everybody's got their own recipe, no two alike, but Finley's certainly draws from the same cultural heritage. Rite-Way closed its brief experiment downtown, but aren't they still open at 23rd and St. Catherine? Might give that a try. There's also a little place - can't remember the name early and pre-caffeinated, but it's just off the far west end of Broadway (45th?) at the entrance to Shawnee Park. Frankly, there are probably a dozen little hole-in-the-wall BBQ joints in the West End that most of us have never discovered.

I've never had anything like it and I cannot stop thinking about it ? The Ribs and chicken wings were killer and so were all the sides and the peach cobbler was the best! He offered hot and mild and the hot literally lit you up. Does anyone know of any comparable "soulfood BBQ" around town. I have tried Finley's and it was fine but it wasn't like Mikes. Someone told me about Riteway BBQ but I think I read on here somewhere that they had closed. Any insight would be much appreciated.
