SUSHI IN THE CITY 2009 DOES IT AGAIN

by Joel_Buno » Thu Mar 12, 2009 11:22 am

I want to take this opportunity to thank the foodie community in Louisville for supporting a fantastic event. Sushi in the City was another major success. Thanks to all participating restaurants: Kansai, Sake Blue, Raw Sushi Lounge, Jarf's Bistro, and Z's Fusion. Everyone brought their A-game. Voting was close.

Also congratulations to Z's Fusion for winning 2009 Sushi of the year as per the judging of Chef Joe Castro -- GE, Angie Fenton -- Courier Journal, John Carlos White -- Publisher Louisville Food and Dining, and Jesse Hendrix -- Estes PR. Also thanks to our dessert sponsors -- Coco's Chocolate Cafe (Chocolate Dreams Winner), The Bakery at Sullivan (creating beautiful sushi shaped desserts) and Ehrler's Ice Cream Concepts (Blue Ribbon Award Winner).

Also receiving the coveted people's choice award was Sake Blue. Their dry ice display was a sight not to be missed.

The event was hot from beginning to end. All proceeds benefited Family Scholar House - a non-profit whose mission is to house single parents as they pursue a degree thus breaking the cycle of inter generational poverty through education. If you attended, please let me know what you thought. Thanks! :D

Hi Joel,

The event looked to be a great success!
I hope there were lots of bids on the silent auction items!

We loved Sake Blue , and yes there ice display was beautiful. The Sake Blue's sushi was our favorite hands down!

The music was very interesting and enjoyed the beat, although the acoustics were not great.

Robin was kind enough to allow us to be a part of the LHB group last night, and we look forward to giving our full support for the event next year!

Yes, he interrupted my chain-sawing, walked all the way in to the back yard and was waving at me, talk about persistent.
