Train Cookies

by Mark P » Thu Mar 12, 2009 10:04 am

My son's second birthday party next Saturday and my wife and I would like to have a few decorated train shaped cookies made for the other little kids at the party, maybe a dozen or two. Anyone have an idea of where we might find a place that can make these? My wife said she found a "friend of a friend" that can make them for $1 each...not sure if that is good or not. We live in Georgetown, IN if that helps.

Mark,

When I went looking for my son's 3rd Birthday ( Thomas) there were Train cookies available on-line party places- I guarantee they are a lot more than $1.00 a piece though, and probably not very tasty.

I'd go with your recommended person at a buck a cookie. unless you are interested in making them yourselves.

$1 per cookie is an absolute steal. The rule of thumb for decorated cookie pricing is $1/inch. (If the cookie is three inches tall, it would cost $3.)

I'm pretty well-known for this type of cookie, and $1 apiece is a steal. The amount of time in making dough, rolling, baking, making icing & decorating comes out to 5-10 minutes a cookie. It's labor intensive work. My minimum decorated cookie price is $2.00.

I'd be happy to help you with your party if you decide to go a different route - there are a few examples of my work at http://www.qasweettreats.com.

Thanks for the info! After further inquiry, the $1 cookies were too small to put the kids' names on them (which is what we were going for). I think I'm going to give it the old college try!!

Hey, Mark. If you find a train cookie cutter locally, will you report back? I'd really like to have one for my train-lover.

Thanks,
Deb

Campbell's Gourmet Cottage has 3 or 4 pieces of a train available in cookie cutters. They should be large enough
for names, maybe 3-4 inch cutters? Call them and they can tell you what they have in stock. 893-6700
