Schnitzelburg Walk Saturday, April 25

by Jesse Hendrix-Inman » Wed Mar 11, 2009 3:59 pm

The 27th Annual Schnitzelburg walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 25. This is a great opportunity to support the neighborhood businesses and enjoy some food, drinks and live music. I will post more information as details are donfirmed, but just wanted to get it out there in case people want to mark their calendars. Check's, Flabby's, the All Wool and Yard Wide Democratic Club, Zeppelin Cafe and the 19th Hole are all participating again this year, and even Old Hickory will be in on it, with live music outside the building.

A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.

Just popping in to remind everyone about the Schnitzelburg Walk this Saturday. It usually gets started around 6, though most of the neighborhood folks get a head start on the libations. Everyone has to be off the street by midnight, but the neighborhood association is recommending that people think about winding down around 11:30 pm just to be safe.

Hickory Street is closed off between Burnett and Mulberry, but the participating businesses extend to Goss as well. If you were to start at the Zeppelin (1036 Burnett) and walk down Hickory, you would hit, in order: Check's, Old Hickory (still a shell, but there will be a band outside), Flabby's, The All Wool Yard Wide Democratic Club, The 19th Hole Pub, The Hara Center (they will be having an art show and sale), and then Jockamo's and the Schnitzelburg Pub are on Goss. You could also hit up the Nachbar. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone.

On street parking is usually plentiful, but if you have a problem, you could park at the Kroger on Goss and walk about 2 blocks to Hickory.

Hope to see you there!

Not much better than:

A) cold beer
B) Flabby's fried chicken
C) colder beer
D) Jockamo's pizza sticks
E) a drunk man urinating behind the tree
F) really, really cold beer

I completely forgot about this until around 11, when I was driving a buddy's new car through the area and saw a huge number of people out and about along Burnett. It took a second to remember that this was going, but we stopped for a bit and wandered around.

Good times.

It was a lot of fun, and the weather was amazing. We stooped for rolled oysters and oyster shooters at Flabby's and they were delicious, even though they were serving quite a crowd. Everyone seemed to be having a great time, and I'm actually surprised by the lack of trash on my street this morning!

The evening rocked! That was one of the biggest crowds that I can remember.
