Tea Station Chinese Bistro at Norton Commons

by Ellen P » Mon Mar 09, 2009 10:29 pm

Ate dinner at the chinese restaurant Friday night. Stayed close to home since we were planning to be so busy Sat. (Ate out twice: Flabby's and BBC St. Matthews on Sat.)
Very nice. very pleasant hosts. we both had sizzing dishes, one spicy - which I prefered. I ended up added the spicy one to mine. Nicely done. The hostess even came by and picked up my purse off the floor and placed in on a nice stand. I saw others had it too. Very quiet but enjoyable spot. People having a birthday. One table with a young son enjoying the aquarium not bothering anyone. I look forward to warmer weather and sitting outside at both this place, Karem's, and Gelatos. We live about 5 min. away and walk up and down the streets admiring the houses. I love seeing the houses almost on the sidewalks. Driveways in the back. Love the scale of the houses. No 4 story entry halls. No garages bigger than my house - well there might be one or two, but overall, we love it. And we think of Seaside Florida when we stroll there and imagine our walking or riding our bikes through there.
I always felt that this should have been built further into Louisville where land is available and and many blocks of housing could have been refurbished, but maybe that will happen next. I hope Liberty Greeen will be completed. I might beable to afford that version and to be downtown, a short bike ride to work, to both my daughters, the parks, the river, downtown, the Tap Room, BBC 4 th street. Riding the bikes across to Indiana.
I digress. The Tea Garden was lovely and we will be back. Something for everyone.
I wouldn't have to move downtown if there were sidewalks out here and I could walk to Norton Commons. I moved out here before anything was built and accepted the fact that I would have to drive everywhere, but with so much so close, I still have to drive every where.
Thankyou

It's nice to hear a review of this place. I've been wanting to check it out but hadn't heard much about it. I've only had one friend eat there, but he recommended it. They apparently have a very authentic-style of bubble tea there too. And that's a-okay with me!

I live less than a mile away and just never seem to make it over there. I am going to have to make a point to get there soon. Thanks for the write up.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

Tried it once. It was OK. Nothing memorable.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

I posted a brief review about Tea Station several months ago, but there was nary a comment....I think it's now being "discovered" and most who visit tend to enjoy it..... 8)

Headed out to NC yesterday to check out the farmers market which, I am sorry to say , was a major disappointment. More on that in another thread.
Ate lunch at the Tea Station and found it to be very good. The menu itself wasn't very adventuresome but what we ordered (bowl of egg drop soup, bowl of hot/sour soup, garlic eggplant and wor shu gai and a pot of green tea) was very good.My only disappointment was the tea... the first pot of the day I guess since we were the only folks there at 11:00... was only luke warm instead of hot. No big deal. Normally I would drive all the way in to Oriental House for a lunch but TSCB was excellent. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. My friend and I made it a standing date to do the farmers market and the TSCB for lunch every Saturday. I only wish their menu was a bit more interesting. They do have sushi on the weekends only but the sushi menu looked pretty pedestrian as well. Perhaps as a steady business gets established their menu will expand.
