Service Industry Discounts

by Shawn Vest » Wed Mar 04, 2009 9:40 am

Hi
we're considering offering a FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY DISCOUNT to all of our fellow workers in the food service business

perhaps 10% off all food purchases for anyone who brings their pay stub/cash out report/ID badge/etc

Who else in the area offers such a discount?? And when do you offer it?

I know that several bars and clubs downtown do the same thing, 10% or happy hour prices all night long. On mondays, I believe..

There has been some talk among the Louisville Originals Members about doing an employee discount card program, similar to the current Reward Card. From what I understand it has been difficult to get everyone to agree on the amount or who would come on board. This would be a monumental feet, getting all the different restaurants to agree on something so personal. I am hopeful that it will come to fruition and feel it would encourage more restaurant employees to visit other locations. The number I heard being kicked around was 25%, but I suppose it could be whatever the management of each establishment felt comfortable with.

Asiatique has always tried to embrace the service industry with great success in the past. Our kitchen serves small plates until 1:15am Thursday - Saturday and the bar usually serves drinks as long as people are there. Thursday were traditionally the service industry night and we would like to reignite that.

Anyone in the service industry can usually expect a little something extra at the bar and lounge A.

For a while Varanese had an industry night on Sun after 9PM at the bar. I think it was half priced appetizers. I haven't been back for a while, I hope they are still doing it.

I'm thinking of offering it throughout the week, to accommodate the odd hours and days we all keep

Yes, Varanese still has 1/2 price Apps & Draft Beer from 9pm-close for the general Public. We do extend this offer at the bar from 5pm-close for actual restaurant industry personal.

We've been talking about doing something on Tuesday nights at Flanagan's, but it hasn't happened just yet. If it ever gets going, I'll let you know.

Ok, so my decision is

the Charlestown Pizza Company will offer a 10% discount on all food and non-alcoholic beverages Tuesday through Sunday during regular business hours to our friends in the food industry

simply bring in your pay stub, cash out slip, or some other form of identification that links you to your restaurant and we'll knock off 10%

thanks

Shawn, I've never been to your place, even though I've always meant to, but because of this I'm going to consciously make it a point to get over there. Not for the discount, but to reward the sentiment. I hope other places take a page out of your book.

i think we all need to get out and patronize our fellow indies as much as possible
plus, not many of us like to cook on our days off

and since we're a little out of the way for most Louisvillians, i figure that you can make a day out of it - spend some time in Charlestown State Park, visit the NABC, eat at the CPC, etc
