Do you believe it's "truly exceptional" and "unique" just because an announcement tells you so? Just curious. Anyway, enough whining: It's a good deal, especially in a shaky economy. Good enough to make me willing to try it.)

I had tried it before when it was just a breakfast buffet (again, not by choice but had vouchers when my husband and I stayed there during the ice storm). I am not much of a review writer but I will share my thoughts....
We were there around 11:30 AM so I guess we were towards the beginning. We were seated immediately, the space is huge, and there were not many other people there. Reservations strongly recommended? I don't really think that's necessary based on our visit. The usual breakfast selections were there: omelette/egg station, scrambled eggs, link sausage (turkey and "regular"), bacon, biscuits and gravy, grits, etc.... I made my husband get a little bit of everything so I could get a bite of each. It was your standard Marriott breakfast. Solid preparation, solid taste, solid quality. Nothing great, nothing awful. No imagination whatsoever. They had a standard assortment of breads straight from any generic commissary, the standard fruits, granola, and oatmeal. On the non-breakfast side, they had a carving station with beef tenderloin, a pasta station, a salad station, some italian meats (sopressata maybe?), and grilled vegetables. Finally, they had a dessert area with the usual suspects including cheesecake. Actually a plus for me was the yogurts. They had a selection of grocery yogurts cups. I took a few for home.
I am sorry that there is no detail to the food but there is really nothing to say. It was just standard. Perfect for someone who wants to get a full belly with no risk. But without risk, there is no reward. This was the cheesecake factory of brunches. The best part about it was that the selection was enormous. I would recommend it for a group of people where everyone likes something different. There is really something there for (almost) everybody. If you sucked whatever creativity there is out of the Oakroom brunch, you would have the Marriott brunch. It is exactly what you would expect from a Marriott brunch. Reminded me of an upscale wedding reception buffet meal. Would I go again? No. Especially not for 19.95 a person. I think the special price should be their regular price to bring the product and the price in line. I would think the reason for the price is because the selection is enormous. I believe we paid for the selection.
FYI, the live entertainment is an accordian player.
