HATS ON OFFLINE Monday, 3/23 at Seviche

by Robin Garr » Mon Mar 02, 2009 10:05 am

(Title changed to reflect decision below. When we get closer to the date, we'll open a signup page in the Offlines Forum, but I think it's a little early to start now.)

Who in the heck is up for a HATS OFFLINE!?

We can resolve this thing once and forever by having a forum gathering in an appropriate place and everybody wears a hat. No difference, no debate.

Who's up for the challenge? Have I seen any takers but Gary, Marsha and me? :)

(And the photos! The photos would be GREAT! :D )

I'm willing to endure the slings and arrows of convention for a one way ticket to manners purgatory. Thankfully my Mum lives on the left coast.

Personally, I like the Phil solution: Don't just pop on a gimme cap. Choose a chapeau with some elegance and, indeed, a modicum of eccentricity, and let it fit your dress and your manner for the evening. Embrace eccentricity!

Listen, if I can't be an eccentric, I am as vapid as a Tony Orlando song.

No, no......I'm not talking about a camouflage bill ballcap just to defy convention. I'll root around in the chapeau closet and pick one with at least a modicum of taste and couth. :D

Come on Ed..Bust out your protective helmet...I'm torn between a mortarboard or my horned viking helmet or maybe one of those hats that you can put two cans of beer in either side...The possibilities are endless

I love hats! So, If you would like, I would love to host this. I would even be willing to open up for a lunch, if that worked better. Also, remember from 5-7 Tue.-Thur. we have 1/2 off Apps. If 5-7 does'nt work that's fine, I would do something special for the forum crew anyways. let me know! I could have my staff wear hats too. Anyways, sounds like a fun time.

I'm game for a hats offline. Not being a hat person, and therefore not possessing a single hat, I'll have to borrow one from a friend. I already have two or three in mind, so just let me know the date.

As as aside, I continue to be amazed by the sheer volume of posts in the hat thread. I must confess that the daunting nature of the task has prevented me from reading the entire thread, but I'm sure its been most entertaining.

I'm in, particularly if it's at Seviche! What a generous offer, Anthony.

I'd hate to think that those people who said you should NEVER wear a hat indoors would even consider making an exception for such an event
