Louisville Originals Rewards Card

by Ed Vermillion » Fri Feb 27, 2009 3:06 pm

Had lunch at Prospect Bristol today and at the presentation of the check the server asked me if I had a Louisville Originals rewards card. Long story short it is a great new program that rewards you for keeping Louisville weird. Pick up a free LO Rewards Card next time you are out at an LO restaurant.

Explanation of the program at:

This is a great program ... particularly for most forumites who dine primarily at the city's indies. Now it makes even more sense.

Yes, we have that card also and the first weekend used it at Sweet Tooth, Veranese, and Havana Rumba. Already getting close to the $10 gift certifcate. It is a very good reward system.

thanks you all. it has been two years in the making. unfortunatlely, havana rumba is dropping out of the group because they do not want to deal with it.
the majority of our members are staying in and believe that this will be a win/ win for all involved.
we have already signed up more than 400 people at baxter station in a little over three weeks.
during our "soft opening" of the program, we have had 3,350 sign-ups, 5494 transactions and a spend on those transaction of $212,537.00.
thanks for all of the support we get for the louisvile originals on louisville hot bytes!

I can't wait to pick up my card. I see Equus on the list. Do you all think I can assume Jack's is also a participant?

Thanks,

pardon my ignorance....

In order to be considered a Louisville Original.... what parameters do you have to meet?

I know you have to be independent and based in Louisville....what are the more specific parameters?

Pretty much that, plus at least one year (?) in continuous business, apply to join and pay the dues. I'm not sure how they deal with local chains, but I suspect that Boombozz would qualify and Tumbleweed might not. Louisville Originals Website likely has the boilerplate hidden somewhere.

You actually do have to be approved by the board, too.

I am a manager at Proof On Main.. We are Louisville owned and operated.

At one time we consulted with the Myriad Restaurant Group in New York. We no longer have ties to Myriad, we consult with ACE hospitality (Louisville Based).

Proof is an expression of Louisville I believe...much of our food is farm to table...from local providers in the region. Our bar and lounge proudly displays portaits of local leaders, celebrities, regulars, and people of influence in the Greater Louisville area. We are a part of the urban bourbon trail....doing our part to share Kentucky's heritage and promote the local economy. You might hear My Morning Jacket on the playlist....or catch a glimpse of Louisvillian Nick Owens art in the lobby of the hotel.

The owners and partners of Proof live in town. These are just a few of the things that I think illustrate our position.

Would Proof On Main meet the parameters set for consideration of membership in the Louisville Originals?

I have been approached by local diners and other restaurant guests inquiring why we are not involved. Your dining card program has really taken off, and many folks have asked me to swipe them at Proof.

Mark from Cityscoot has posed the same questions, and kind of urged me to look into it.

The Louisville Originals organization is an asset to Louisville and I would love to hear some thoughts regarding Proof?
