Sergios beer dinner #5

by John Hagan » Tue Feb 24, 2009 9:29 am

I noticed on the dry erase board at the door the other day Sergios World Beers(Shelbyville) will be hosting their fifth beer dinner next Monday(March 2nd). Part of Sergios unique marketing plan is to not release the menu for their events prior. I have found a couple of the previous dinner menus at his site.
My reason for posting this is two fold #1getting the word out about a unique place that I like #2 I would like to see Sergio post up on this forum.I know he could add alot. Plus theres room for another beer geek as one of our resident beer guys has gone awol. So if you read this Sergio, consider it to be an invitation to join in on this forum.

The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Sorry to have sent the short boring blurb, but please bear in mind, I am not computer savvy. Fortunately the manager, my son, who is now 14 and loves to work on Sergio's website is here to assist. Anyways, I love what beer has to offer, and I also relish the opportunity to both learn and assist others in the fine art of beer. I try to do what Roger, across the river at the great beer emporium Richo's, has accomplished. We know it is an enviable endeavor, and also unending. He has educated so many people by the mere fact he carries a wide assortment of fine beers. The major point I am trying to make, is that Mr. Baylor does not sell water. I am proud to be a beer lover with a disdain for water. The most comical sight was the Buttwiper salesman pouring out my waters because they were 6 months old. Maybe another 3 years would finally give them some flavor? I think that in this area, we have enough people with an interest in beer. I believe my mission is not to carry 1000 beers, but to carry beers that will help transform water drinkers into great beer lovers. Even Ronnie The Redneck and other ilk learn to discern between styles, flavors, and colors of beers. And guess what, they never order water again!!! I have had many beers in many countries, I think. So having small groups to enjoy 3 hour multi-course dinners is not only fun for me, but a real learning experience for the diners. Just as there is a beer for every kind of food, there is a food for every style of beer. Wine drinkers enjoy their flights in a certain order; and why can't beer be sampled in the same manner? Of course its possible. I remember multi-course meals were the way I was brought up in many far away lands. See you soon.
