Corner Cafe in Lyndon

by Ryane Norris » Sat Feb 21, 2009 1:46 pm

Yesterday my neighbor came over to our place raving about this little restaurant in Lyndon that his family has started frequenting called The Corner Cafe. He insisted we give it a shot but I have no idea his taste in food or knowledge of it for that matter (he'd never had indian food til i sent over my left overs form Kashmir one day) so i'm not sure I trust his opinion. However, I do trust you guys. Has anybody heard of this place? Is it worth giving a shot?

It's a nice neighborhood place. I haven't been for a long time, but I recall it as comfortable, with an extended menu that takes on lots of directions from cajun to pizza. It's out of the way for me, or I'd probably get out there more often.

Ryane,

I haven't been for a very long time, but my parents go out of their way to drive there from Lake Forest and they have excellent taste in restaurants.

I LOVE Corner Cafe. They celebrated, what, 25 years in biz last year? 30 years maybe? Anyway, that in itself tells you they're dong something right. Ive never had anything that was less than excellent. Warm brie spinach salad . . . . mmmmmm

Corner Cafe has been around for years, and is something of a fixture in the Lyndon area....don't pre-judge by its location (in a small, strip center), the interior is nicely-furnished and has a slight upscale appearance to it, with a bar just off the lobby ...but this not a formal restaurant, so casual attire is welcome....they have a diverse menu, with some touches of Cajun, Greek and Italian....my favorite entree is their "Cajun Seafood Alfredo" -- A mélange of fresh shrimp, oysters and scallops lightly sautéed in olive oil and mild Cajun spices. Tossed with tender linguine, cream, and fresh grated Romano cheese [from their menu].....you can visit their website at: http://www.cornercafelouisville.com. Definitely give them a try.

Ditto all the above. We ate our first meal there at least 21 or 22 years ago. Our last meal was a couple of years ago....it's a nice place. I don't think the menu changes much.

Yup. I reviewed it when it was new, somewhere in the middle '80s. Liked it. Went back and reviewed it maybe five years ago. Still liked it, and it hadn't changed much. I'm pretty sure that it MOVED somewhere between those two reviews, though.

As I recall it used to be at the intersection (more or less) of Lyndon and LaGrange Roads (late 80s?) before it came to its current location about 12 years ago. It probably doubled in size with the move.

I'd rate it "OK," and don't expect anything out of the ordinary. My last meal there was a piece of salmon on salad, and the salmon was so overcooked it was crispy on the inside. Wouldn't expect any great culinary experience, but it's a comfortable restaurant.

The Nuclear is my vote for best sub in Louisville. Get the bambino, unless you are sharing!

One of my favorite little spots in town.

The Nuclear sub is great, as is the Brie and Pecan salad and the Tenderloin Salad. I often get the grilled Ahi tuna sandwich with a side of their black bean salsa. Makes for a great meal anytime.

Give them a try.

Here is a link to their web page w/ menu etc.

Ditto on the Tenderloin salad and Pecan Cajun Chicken salad. Very good, tasty meals.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

as Stephen D pointed out, the nuclear sub is indeed money.
all their subs are good, imo.
pizza there is pretty good too, and they have some unique combinations.
im a big fan of the reuben pie as well as the gyro pie.

I have never been there at night but have eaten lunch there many times and never had a bad meal. Service is good and the food is always prepared properly. Prices are reasonable.

I don't make it there very much, but I think that they have the best veggie sub in town - hands down!
