The new and improved Avalon

by Amy A » Sat Feb 14, 2009 12:13 am

So, we initially wanted to go to Seviche tonight, but waited too long to make reservations and they were booked for the time we wanted. Opentable showed Avalon as having that slot open and while I didn't want to go at first, I remembered Robin posting that PR about their new chef. Their online menu was up and I glanced over it and really liked the emphasis on the "lounge plates" and we decided to give it a shot.

First off, the whole inside is revamped. Even with a Jack's-esque couch area in the front room which I thought neat. The dining room is completely changed around and I loved the new decor and table set up.

But that isn't anything compared to the new dishes. I was blown away. We initially were going to do courses but got so stuck on all the delicious small plates that we ordered six of them and a salad and desserts. I am not going to go into details on each one, but suffice it to say that not only did we love EVERY ONE of them, but we declared the whole dinner an all round success and can't wait to go back.
