Bring own mixer to restaurant?

by Ellen P » Thu Feb 12, 2009 1:37 pm

I don't drink regular soft drinks. Never did. I don't like diet colas with bourbon. I drink bourbon on the rocks but alot of times I would rather have a taller drink - especially if I am driving. Or if I'm drinking all day. (Vacation :D )
I would like to bring in my own diet 7 up or sprite or ginger ale. (I've tried Club Soda, which is usually available, but as a tall drink, it's not great, even with lemon and/or lime wedge.)
Can I bring in my own mixer? I would surrender it to the bartender. You can charge me for it.
What do you think?
Thanks.

I don't know of any law against it, as it is a non-alcoholic beverage you are bringing in. I think you would really need to know the bartender to make it happen, but I don't see any major reason why you could not do this. As long as you don't expect a discount on the drink, and tip the bartender well for the effort, I don't think you would have any issues.

I have a couple of regulars who have done this. It's never been a big deal to me.
