Food Compromises

by SherryC » Sun Feb 08, 2009 2:48 pm

My partner and I often go out to dinner with his teenage son. The son's food preference is chicken wings. As a health-conscious vegaquarian, I have a hard time finding food at "wings" restaurants. I do enjoy pub food occasionally, but I'd like to find a good compromise where J can get wings and I can find something healthy and edible on the menu. Any suggestions on where to go to keep the whole family happy?

Cafe Lou Lou has wings PLUS a whole range of other stuff for carnivores and vegequarians alike, plus we're open 7 days a week.

Our menu can be found at cafeloulou.com

I agree that LouLou's will have the best food that would appeal to all (agree with Marsha).

In addition, however, many of the chains also can answer your concerns, from the brew-pub in Oxmoor, Fox & Hound, Cheesecake Factory, et al, or even Pizza Hut/Papa Johns! If I remember, LouLou's wings are GREAT, but are baked rather than fried, and more Italian spiced than hot? (we think they are better than the others I listed, but they are not the "average") At the others, we've ordered (fried) hot wings and vegetarian salads (or pizzas), and split everything.

Sherry,

Welcome to the Forum!

If the teenager is not absolutely wedded to wings- the calzone's at Lou Lou are HUGE and very good. My ( formerly) teenaged brother-in -law loved the food there. And yes, they have alot of great options for you.

Another suggestion: Chinese- if he like fried wings, he may like fried chinese wings/foods with dipping sauces. That opens up a whole new world of possibilities for you.

Oriental restaurants are a good option [EXCLUDING "Zen Garden", Marsha]....another might be some of the Indian restaurants in town....several offer grilled chicken wing entrees (Tandoori), as well as a variety of vegetarian dishes...
