Has Jockamo's gone out of business?

by Scott Campbell » Tue Feb 03, 2009 11:05 pm

My wife went to Jockamo's last Saturday to pick up some carry out. While she was waiting for her order, the waitress said that the owner had just told her that this would be the last night for the restaurant. She said something about the owners getting divorced and being unable to come to an agreement about the restaurant.

Can anyone confirm this? Because of the weather, I haven't been able to go by there to see if there's a sign in the window. I'll be bummed if it's true--it's probably the only restaurant in Germantown I really like.

Oh - I hope not. I worked for them in high school at Mr Gatti's and then at the B-town Rd Jockamo's location. They are good folks and I wish them the best no matter what happens.

I just called their number. The message said that they were on vacation the month of February, but will reopen in March. I hope that works out.

I can't confirm the future of Jockamo's, but I do know that Francie Wilder, co-owner of Jockamo's, is now serving food at The Hideaway Saloon on Bardstown road at Bonnycastle. Stopped in last week and had an awesome reuben and a bowl of chili. Menu is small, but not typical bar fare. Hideaway has a pretty nice beer selection as well.

There is a sign in the window that says they are reopening today.

Yay! they are sooo good. The pepperoni breadsticks are evil indulgence, and I love the atmosphere. They have a decent selection of beers on tap as well.

Is it common practice for a place to close down for an extended time and start back up? Aside from your customer base going elsewhere, what about your staff? Would you be willing to work elsewhere (assuming you can find a position) for a month and then go back to the old place?

Mike Linning's does it every year. They close for about two months over Christmas. It doesn't seem to affect their staff too much and it seems like the same people work there year after year.

I believe Mike Linnig's has a ton of family working there.

As far as Jockamo's, they have the BEST "pizzasticks on the planet"! Loaded with toppings and denched in garlic butter with a side of marinara......dey good!

Re: Has Jockamo's gone out of business? SIGN SAYS OPENS 3-6-09

by RichardM » Fri Mar 06, 2009 4:56 pm

I went by the place today at 2:40 p.m. and the sign on the door said they were opening today, Friday March 3 at 5:00 p.m.

No one there doing prep so at this point you have to take the sign at it's meaning.

Hope so as like that place.
