Tickets SOLD OUT for Shrimp & Grits Throwdown!

by Deb Hall » Mon Feb 02, 2009 1:03 pm

Folks,

Great news- we've sold 200 tickets for the Throwdown and now we are SOLD OUT!!!!!!!

To all the restaurants out there with tickets in-hand- please do not sell anymore tickets effective immediately. As explained earlier, with on-line and restaurant sales, we distributed more tickets than we actually have room for. Please respond to my e-mail sent earlier today with your sold ticket count so we'll have our final number.

Thanks,
Deb

Well, that's a bummer. I was just going out this afternoon to Lou Lou's to pick up 3 of them. With no power, it hasn't been the priority over this past week to get them. Now, I'm sad.

I had that and the UofL football signing 'party' on my calendar. I guess this helps me decide which one to go to. Congrats.

I read that 40% of the proceeds from the bar are going to be donated too... is that right? If that is the case, I'm still going to show up and have a drink or two and say hi to everyone.

Scott,

Are you saying you did not get a ticket? I''m so sorry - Thanks so much for helping to publicize it in Oldham.

Yes, CQ is generously donating a significant portion of the liquor purchases at the bar. But I'll have to check with Alan on logistics- for capacity reasons I don't think we will be able let folks into the area we are going to be in without a ticket, and I'm not sure if the "portion of liquor sales" that night would extend to purchases in other parts of CQ that night.

I'll check and let you all know,

Bummed out, but excited for you all for the response this has gotten. I'm not a huge shrimp fan but this is my wife's favorite dish. Sorry we won't be able to make it but sure am glad everything is going so well and that it looks like a good amount will be raised. Congrats to all involved.

Folks,

I've received many requests for additional tickets, as have Robin & Will. As much as we wish we could, we just can't accomodate these requests. Unfortunately It's not just a matter of squeezing a few extra people in- before we could turn off the on-line sales, we sold 50 tickets more than our capacity (252 sold/200 planned). And I have requests for at least another 30 already.

The organizers met yesterday to figure out how we are going to accomodate the extra 50 already sold and see if there was any way possible to have space for more. But unfortunately we can't accomodate any additional ticket sales. Be assured that this is being applied uniformly- no one who did not purchase a ticket before we sold out is getting one ( this includes forumites friends, FEAT board members, friends of Robin's and my parents.)

Thanks for all the great support- the response ( obviously) has been overwhelming!

Thanks,
Deb

Scott (and anyone without a ticket),

Alan confirmed yesterday that CQ is donating 40% of the bar in all their bars that evening to FEAT. Anyone who wants to come to show support and make a donation to FEAT can come to CQ and hang out in the Saloon- which is a totally separate section of CQ. You won't be able to see the chef action and judging, but Alan has a arranged for a band for the Saloon for the evening, and 40% of your drinks will go to the cause.

Once the judging and event ends around 8:30, we'll open up the main room to everyone so you can meet up and say "hi' , and enjoy the bar until close if desired.
