which of these caterers is good?

My boss is planning an event at the Muhammad Ali Center (which means, of course, that I'm planning it).
I have gone through their list of approved caterers and, after crossing some off, these are the ones that are on the list:

Hyatt Catering
Jarfi's
Bristol Catering
Masterson's Catering
Silver Spoon
Wiltshire Pantry

Not counting cost or availability right now, does anyone have experience, good or bad, with any of the above caterers?

Ellen, I used to work for Jarfi's Catering Division, so I can say they know exactly what they're doing. They are very experienced caterers. In addition, they've catered to the party room in the Ali museum a couple hundred times, at least. They know their way around that kitchen and those freight elevators. Do yourself a favor, consider letting Jarfi's take care of it. If you need the phone numbers, let me know!

I work with caterers pretty much every weekend (weddings.) From that list, hands down, #1 is Wiltshire Pantry, for food, presentation, cost/value and ease of working with other vendors/clients.
I've worked events with all on the list.

No doubt, Jarfi's. I'm sure you'll be totally satisified!

i have used both wiltshire and jarfi's many times and i actually worked for jarfi's, however of the two i would go with wiltshire pantry for their creativity, presentation and taste of their food. both are good people but wiltshire always went above and beyond our expectations whenever we used them.

I've been to events catered by every caterer on your list and I definitely agree that Jarfi's and Wiltshire are both class acts. Definitely stay away from Masterson's, the last several events I've been to that they catered were not the best. Just out of curiosity isn't Lady Fingers on the list for the Ali Center? They cater many of the major events in town especially around Derby time and I've always found their food and service to be very good.

I love Susan from Wiltshire pantry. I've done a lot of events with her and on every occasion it's always been fun and professional. She has an amazing staff.

I'm not familiar with the other caterers mentioned but I know you can't go wrong with Wiltshire pantry. They are the consummate professionals and go out of their way to make things work as they should.

Yes, I'm well aware that Masterson's owns Captain's Quarters and I enjoy eating there on a regular basis. The food and atmosphere are very pleasant and the staff is always very accommodating. My comment was not directed at any of their restaurant operations.

At the risk of jumping on the bandwagon, I'll throw my endorsement toward Wiltshire. I don't have a lot of experience with the others but we used Wiltshire for our wedding last year and they were phenomenal. They were great at working with us to come up with a unique seasonal menu that not only tasted incredible but was also beautifully presented. After the open bar, I think it was the highlight of the night for most of our guests.

On the topic of caterers; can anyone suggest a good/inexpensive caterer for casual/bar food menu?

I am talking wings, finger sandwiches, meatballs, ect... for around 100 people.

This event will be in the J-Town/Hurstbourne area.
