Dining Hop Tonight

by Stephen D » Mon Jan 19, 2009 3:10 pm

I'm not posting this on the forum page because I am not trying to organize anything big, but I have the day off and I am in the mood to get down for dinner tonight and thought somebody might wanna join me.

So...

I wanna do a dining hop tonight. L and N is a must, Basa, Varanese, Red Pepper, Volare, etc... One course at each restaurant. Maybe 5 restaurants in all.

Anybody game?

Regardless, I'll post back with my experiences. I am falling in love with this idea the more I think about it!

 8)

I'm tooling it as we speak. I wanna try to do this comfortably, both on the tummy and the pocketbook! Gayle's in and Annemarie is getting the PM. Maybe 3 courses with 2 visits to my mixology brethren...

OK, here's the tentative plan, but nothing is set in stone. Organic = good!

Basa - Gerred (sp?) is a classic mixologist that will hook us up with perfect appertifs. Shared App(s), as Michael Ton can set the stage for what's to come

L and N - Half glasses of wine and Rick Adams' sweetbreads

Varanese - cocktails or wine, it's all good. John Varanese has some exceptional salads! Namely the Pecan and sundried cranberry salad with carmelized onion vinny. Who knows what else he is doing now?!...

OK, here's where we need to watch our alcohol consumption, so...

Red Pepper - Shared entree with rice and some of that rare, specially sourced Oolong tea

Volare - Shared desserts from a Joshua Moore and digestifs prepared by Christina in a cozy, warm environment. Snifters anyone?

We can park at Basa and take the same car. Volare is practically next door. So we will run a pretty efficient circuit...

EDIT: Price range target is $50 to $70, as we will be trying to share everything, even drinks at some point, I think.

How did it go, Stephen? You probably could have talked Mary and me into joining you, but we were out all afternoon and I didn't check the forum. :(
