I don't venture out that direction often, but my husband and I decided to go gorge on their Sunday buffet.

I know it's not the most amazing food, but it sure does hold a special place in my heart.

Their yeast rolls and tomato soup could possibly be the best comfort food in the world. I try to get out there two or three times a year to get my fix.

We head out that way sometimes. We haven't had a bad meal there yet.

Rather go down the street

by Andrew Mellman » Mon Mar 05, 2007 2:57 pm

We ate at Old Stone Inn over the weekend, and much prefer that if we're in the general Simpsonville/Shelbyville area. We had marvelous dinners (frog legs appetizer, roasted quail over leek bread pudding, et al) for about 2/3 the price of any similar-quality Louisville restaurant!

Claudia's is way too salty for us, the food just isn't that good, and we'd rather Old Stone.

Let me second that observation. I can't put my finger on it, but for some reason, Claudia's just hasn't been the same since the fire.

I've had two bad experiences at Old Stone with undercooked cooked shrimp once, and a seating issue another. I don't know if I have it in me to try again.
