If you'd like to try one of the famous Las Vegas buffets I highly recommend the World Buffet in the RIO! It's got various stations for Mexican, Chinese, Sushi, etc. and everything everything I've ever tried there is pretty good, it's the one buffet a lot of locals go to. Another big advantage is that the RIO is off the strip so you don't have to fight the traffic. I forget the exact price but it's quite reasonable for the amount of food you can eat.

Try Lotus of Siam. It's off the main strip in a shopping center location, but it's nationally famous as one of the best Thai restaurants in the U.S.

"Batista's Hole In the Wall" is an old-school "Italian joint" that's been around for years and looks like a place where The Rat Pack would have probably hung out...I haven't eaten there for awhile, but I loved it, and I remember the food as being very good....as I said, it's a very traditional Italian restaurant, which is a positive for some, less so with others, so make your own call...I believe they have a website, so you can check-out their menu and decide if it appeals to you....

John...I agree Batista's is definitely "Old School Vegas" Try to go with a group. Also the accordian player, that serenades people, wife is from Louisville so you will here My Old Kentucky Home. The menu is on the wall and is all inclusive. Checkout all the old pictures from Frank and Deano to John Gotti all with the owner.

I remember the menu on the wall -- and all those pictures of the famous (and infamous?)

I've eaten at the RIO World buffet but I wouldn't do that again, but it was OK. I don't like to see people fighting over food! I'm leaving on Thursday and will try the Thai and Batista's and give a report from Vegas.

For those of you who love seafood and prime rib and all that, I highly recommend the seafood buffet over at the Rio Hotel. I think it's around 40 bucks. But seriously, it's definately worth it.

The accordian player is still alive ? I haven't been to Batista's in 20 years and the guy was ancient then ! And yes, he did play "My Old Kentucky Home" for us. Do they still serve free wine ?

Mark...The all you can drink wine is still free with your meal. I know your a Vegas nut. You need to visit Batista's again. We will be there in May.

Were were in Vegas for a wedding in October, and YES, the accordion player is still playing, and came over and played My Old Kentucky Home for our table! My guestimation is that he's about 150-175 years old.

2 of my top 5 all-time best meals have come from Rosewood Grille in Vegas. It's a lobster/steakhouse located directly across from the Monte Carlo behind Walgreens on the strip. If you love lobster then you should'nt miss it. They have any size live lobster (seriously, some have claws as big as your head) you can imagine.

Give Todd English's , "Olives" in the Bellagio a try for lunch. The lunch prices are reasonable. When you RSVP, ask for a table outside (weather permitting). You will be overlooking the Famed Fountains of Lake Bellagio. Make you sure you give the white peach bellini a try (they are hand crafted, just as Harry's in Venice) as you wait for you meal. You will not be disappointed.
