My wife and I went to Selena's for the first time this evening. Although the food and service were very good, I'd have to say I was a bit disappointed. The place was packed and we waited about 45 minutes for a table (not a big deal). Several people had told me they served charbroiled oysters (Marty mentioned them in his review) and we went their specifically for this dish. It wasn't on the menu, although we didn't ask about it and ended up ordering the Oysters Selena, which was four oysters and bacon on a bed of what was essentially spinach and artichoke dip. My wife ordered Shrimp Manale and was expecting the style of BBQ shrimp served at Pascal's Manale in New Orleans, which are very large shrimp served swimming in a bowl of a butter/garlic/black pepper sauce. This was shrimp and linguine, pretty similar to the shrimp scampi I ordered, although the sauce was a tad different. Both were good, just not at all what we expected. And at $17.99 per entree, it was a bit pricey, I thought. We split a bread pudding for dessert. That was excellent.
I hate to knock it, because everyone was very friendly and the food was well-prepared, just not what we thought it was going to be.
