High praise for Charlestown Pizza Co

by Lois Mauk » Sat Jan 17, 2009 12:14 am

Lots of praise being heaped upon the Charlestown Pizza Company in the Jeffersonville Evening News' on-line forum:
http://community.cnhi.com/eve/forums/a/ ... 077071/p/1

Bravo, Shawn! Sounds like you're making the competition nervous in C'town!

Congrats to Shawn! Great compliments! (I also thought it was funny that the Google Ads on top of the Evening News page kept showing a Papa John's ad! :D )

Oh, nice. I've been meaning to get over there and check it out ever since I got to try some of their pizza for free at Derby City Espresso a while back. Yummy. :)

thanks everyone, The Tribune forum normally scares the hell out of me, so when i saw our name at the top of a thread, i cringed wondering what could possibly have gone wrong that would land us on that forum (if you read any of the other threads in the Charlestwon forum, you will understand)-
but imagine my surprise when i read all the positive comments....

thanks
shawn
c'mon over Laura, its January and we would appreciate the business

That was some great praise for you all, especially coming from that forum. I'm still chuckling about the guy that hangs out in the square looking for "hot chicks" and pining for Druthers. I think Druthers has been gone for well of 20 years!

Congratulations to Shawn and Tajana!

If not mistaken, the first Burger Queen/Druther's opened in Middletown back in the '70's; and while most eventually converted to DQ's, reportedly there was a Druther's still operating in Campbellsville(?) as recently as 2007....

BQ in Middletown was open at least as far back as 1964. I played in a H.S. freshman basketball team league at Eastern H.S. Games were on Saturday mornings and lunch was often at the BQ (at least when we won).

I defer to an Eastern HS alum....in 1964 I was living in Indy and dining on "Burger Chef".....

Not an Eastern Alum - our team (Westport) played in the freshman league located at Eastern. The Burger Chef was on Shelbyville Road, accross from the Mall (don't remember if it was there before the Mall was) where the Rollo Pollo was before it was replaced by, what, Arby's or Chick-fil=A, maybe?

I don't know which came first, either; but we moved back to Louisville in '71 and the Burger Chef was still on Shelbyville Rd....I'm a Westport alum as well (1974).....
