Wow. L &N Wine Bar & Bistro!

by Laura T » Fri Jan 16, 2009 11:22 am

I want to report that I had the pleasure of checking out L &N Wine Bar & Bistro for the first time last night and I am oh so glad I did. I'm sure nobody needs to be told that the place is amazing, but I really had no idea what I had been missing. I met a friend just for drinks and appetizers, so I can't speak to their dinner entrees (which all sound FABULOUS), but the wine and appetizers we shared were simply impeccable. Everything about the whole place, from the bar to the service to the presentation and flavor of the dishes is exquisite. We had the shrimp beignets, duck confit, and goat cheese & sweet onion tart, each of which were insanely good. I'm a 'champagne taste on a Mad Dog 20/20 budget' kind of girl, so obviously I haven't experienced much upscale dining, and I attempted to restrain my amazement at the whole experience for fear of coming across like a Beverly Hillbilly, but wow. My most sincere compliments to the chef!

I posted this about my first visit to L&N back in December:

I ate at L&N for the first time last Friday night, and I have to say, it was excellent. I started with their bloody mary (I know, it kills the palate, but I love bloody marys), which was great and spicy enough (though sometimes I make it spicier), then moved on to glasses of the Chateau Davril, Bordeaux, France 2005 with my meal (the house salad and a fantastic sirloin special that's not on the menu -- if they're still serving it, I highly recommend it!). My girlfriend had the Laurel Glen “Terra Rosa”, Mendoza, Argentina 2004, I believe, along with the escargot appetizer (with country ham and infused bourbon butter) and the tuna entree. My parents had the bison strip, but I can't remember what they drank. Anyway, we had an excellent meal. Everything tasted wonderful, the service was personable and attentive, and I can't think of a single thing that wasn't perfect.

Their web site has the summer menu (along with scrolling text about the patio being open, lol), but the current menu has a number of the same items.

I need to get over there again for the $5 appetizers. Is that special on every night of the week, or just one in particular? I forget.

Yeah I can't remember if it's on a specific night of the week or not, but I'm pretty sure that's a special they've been running for a while. Maybe it's Tuesday night? My memory fails me.

The blog entry was dated 02/08. Maybe they are not doing any longer.

Hmm, maybe not. Either way, I'm not complaining! It was worth every penny.

Hey Laura! Your dining companion had an equally fabulous time :) . L&N is one of my favorite places, and I always love everything on the menu. We could apply your ordering wine by closing your eyes and pointing at the wine menu technique to the food and it would work just as well. Lovely evening.

Laura

Nancy and I are thrilled that you had a nice evening. We certainly understand that many people are unable to go out to eat as often as they'd like or perhaps have to watch their budget when they do, but we very much appreciate each and every person who chooses to spend an evening in our place ( or any other independent restaurant for that matter!). Thanks again for your kind words.
