Chef Lamas did it again. Three of us totally pigged out last evening. Needless to say the shrimp "ceviche" was outstanding; none of us were able to identify the seasoning on the popcorn garnish, but it definitely added another dimension. The llapingachos (potato and cheese croquettes) were to die for. The goat cheese lent a lovely tang and married well with the smoothness of the avocado in the accompanying salad. For us, the surprise of the evening was the chorizo stir fry that accompanied the organic pork chop. Our wait person explained that there is often a distinctive Chinese edge to dishes of coastal Ecuador. Like all great ice cream, the mango "helado" melted lovingly down our throats.

David DuBou did an excellent job of matching wines to the courses. Further more he allowed us "Far-East Enders" the option of picking up our ordered wines at the Westport Whiskey and Wine Shop. Nothing against Old Towne Liquors, but I'm not big on doing Bardstown Rd. more than necessary.

The next "Gusto Latino" dinner will be Wednesday, February 18, featuring the foods of Venezuela. We made our reservation before leaving. :D
