"Dining with Steve" is producing customers

by Steve Bryant » Tue Jan 13, 2009 1:49 pm

I've been doing this for about three weeks and it seems to be working. I'm getting first time customers, about two a week. That so far is better than anything else I've done. At least that gets them in the door and from there, I can do the rest. If this keeps up for the 10 weeks that they run the spot, I'll be satisfied. Only thing I don't like about it is on the commercial, they called my She Crab Soup "Crab Soup" . I almost threw up when I heard that but the rest of the commercial is great.

Steve I actually thought about doing this 2 years ago, never did research the cost, was it reasonable for the advertisement provided ?

I have been with "Dining with Steve" for a while now and am very pleased. I have seen an increase in traffic and return visits from people that participate in the "Dining w/ Steve" program. I am glad that I'm with them......

In my situation, where I am located it works out good for me. I know I have a clen restaurant and I know based on comment cards that I give to my customers that they enjoy our food and I know the service is good. But all of that does you no good if people don't come to your restaurant. This is bringing in customers and that gives me an opportunity to show them what can do. The only thing it costs me is the meal. The GC's that they us does not include alcohol so I might get something from those sales. My expence is only the cost of the food and advertizing in the papers is so expensive. It does for me all I want and that is to get customers in my door so I can earn their business. Your place is different in that every body knows where your are and you have already built a good reputation. Hardly no one knows who we are and so many people that ride by think we are the same old fish house that was here before. I need to let them know that we are not a fish house or a fish camp. We are a Seafood Restaurant and more but no one will know unless I can get them to come in. It might do you some good because everyone that I tell your restaurant tells me that you guys are closed during the winter months. Some how a lot of people have that impression around here. I've been telling everyone I talk to that you are open 7 days a week. They all seem to be surprised. Maybe that would help get the work out for you.

"Dining with Steve" has been very good to us as well. It has been a very effective method of getting people in the door.

We constantly are getting the word out about this, and all the restaurants on the river emphasize it also.

Thanks Steve for the recognition, it is amazing what word of mouth can do :D

Alan,

That really surprises me. I've been on the East End for 10 years, and never heard of anytone thinking of CQ as being a seasonal restaurant. Of course the deck makes it extra fantastic, but I've known you had Sunday Brunch forever. Then again, I drive River Road alot so maybe that signage is part of my mental picture...

My wife is from the LaGrange Area and she said it has been a long time since she has been there. We are pretty much newly weds and I'm still learning about this area. She's been showing me the Louisville area a little at a time. This Monday will be our first wedding aniversary and we are going to Mrytle Beach for a long weekend, leaving this Friday morning and will return on Tuesday. The following Monday, we are planning on dinning with you. I really Look forward to it.

I don't know how cost worthy it is, but http://www.restaurant.com/ might be another way to get some new customers. I love the site and use it often when searching for a new place to try.

It's a local TV show. After the review, viewers can buy discount gift certs for the restaurant.

Steve,

Thanks for the shout out! I'm a native Loo-a villian, and this is my dream job - I love being the restaurant scout for the show. We have many customers that sign annual contracts, because this is the best advertising deal out there. And FYI, we tell people (during the show) if they looking to live off discount dining, are poor tippers, and only spend the amount of the cert., then go to restaurant.com - our goal is to get people to try a place they've never been to or haven't patronized in a while. We dedicate the 2nd segment of every show to TIPPING. Our program started in the Cleveland/Akron area almost 14 years ago, we are the oldest of this kind - restaurant.com and the radio programs are designed after us - Steve Thompson (of Dining with Steve) knows the guy (they still chat once in a while) that started the radio program - of course, it's modeled after us. But we still give best ROI and we don't discount any less than the Louisville Originals. We're here to stay, just really want acceptance by the Indies in this city - thanks to all who have trusted us to get new customers through their doors - that's what we're all about!!!!

See you at the "TASTE OF ASCENSION! Mardis Gras Celebration" - Wear your beads! :D
