That's an interesting idea - but I'm not sure how that would work what with Robin being a restaurant reviewer and all - I could see some hidden pitfalls, there. I'm sure Robin'll weigh in and let us know what he thinks.

In other news, the group is now up over 90 members! Good work, people!

Well, I learn something new every day on this forum. I've never heard of Dainty, but I must say it is a much more appealing name than the other Louisville game that was new to me-Cornhole. I can't tell you have perplexed I was when I saw it being advertised at church functions.

Yeah. A couple of years ago, when cornhole just started to become big, my aunt and uncle decided to google search it, to try to figure out how to make the boards. I can only imagine the things they saw.

I don't do Facebook at all but I think a trip to the Capriole Goat Cheese farm might be up Bourdain's alley. I'd put their goat cheese up against anything and the farm is so very picturesque, a beautiful place to film. And all the goats are in tasteful shades of brown/black/eggshell and taupe. Very stylish. Then a follow up with a tour of one of our distilleries.

ok, it would be great to show that our fantastic city has more to offer than horse racing, basketball, and fireworks

Capriole Goat Cheese - the most award winning food producer in the area
The New Albanian Brewing Company - the first and only serious beer bar in the metro, plus Roger and Tony pounding beers together in the Red Room would be good TV

other than those three specific destinations my suggestions are general

Pizza - Pizza Today is published here, the big Papa J's got started here, and we have a great selection of great pies in this town
Bourbon - Kentcuky's most famous product, distilleries, bourbon bars, cooking with bourbon, etc
Local Agriculture - farmers markets, KY Bison, Huber, etc
Beer - we have blossomed into a great beer town - BBC(s), Cumberland, Brownings, NABC, + the dozen or so really good beer bars, where the staff really know their beers

That store is Hauck's, and you were talking to George Hauck, I'm sure.

Thanks, Marsha- that's right! I must have talked to him for an hour about how the neighborhood used to to be, how to play dainty, etc without knowing who he was. Then they announced him and and the crowd gave him a standing ovation. BTW- he says Dainty is entirely luck- and he won that night. :D

Yup, that was mentioned on the Facebook discussion group thread. I've actually had some, we used to serve it at Limestone, I think. Has anyone else eaten it?

The group is up over 130 people!

I've tried it and was not impressed, but I'm not into caviar in the first place. I use to know a few guys that actually caught the fish. They would give the roe away to friends and family and sell it for big bucks to NYC restaurants. I think it is just a well marketed novelty item.

If you haven't been to VistaPrint.com for logo items, you should go look. I use them for everything. Just upload a logo, photo, whatever and have it put on a biz card, hat, calendar . . . And wait a couple of minutes and they'll start sending you coupons for free stuff.

And never, I repeat never, click on the link after placing an order for your $10 reward. That link signs you up for a Club that bills you $15 a month forever.

VistaPrint does a fine job. Just avoid their worthless "club."

I am pretty sure a group from Southern Foodways Alliance was in town over the Spring/Summer, and they were playing Dainty at the festival that takes place every year. I think it's cool, and I would love to learn to play.

I know what you mean. When I first moved up here from South Carolina last year, I was invited to a party in Henry County. I told them sure. That would be great. I asked them what kind of party. They said it was going to be a barbecue with a group of prison workers and after we eat there will be a corn hole tournament. You want to play? I thought, Oh My God, what have I gotten myself into.

I can't believe I sat through that entire video.... And that I got hooked. I tell ya, I think I'm in love with George Hauck.

The Dainty Contest would be perfect Bourdain material. Goofy games, lotsa beer. What's not to love?

Hey, I used to live within rock-throwing distance of Hauck's when I was in culinary school, and I would take them my leftover goodies from baking class. What a sweet guy Mr. Hauck is. He even gave me a Hauck's Grocery polo shirt! And the Dainty Contest is a blast.

Matter of fact, no matter what happens, we should do a forum offline to the Dainty Competition in July - how fun!
