Advice on a "Special Dinner"

by Bonnie E. » Mon Jan 12, 2009 10:04 am

Could someone please suggest a really nice place for our 20th anniversary? Have been to, and enjoyed, 610, Limestone, Oakroom, English Grill, Le Rellais (sp?). Never have tried Proof, Eqqus or Corbetts. We are not at all picky eaters, just love great food and wine. I am sure there are several places I don't even know about. That's why I love this board. Had never heard of Red Pepper, Bombay Grill and others but tried them because I read about them here! (And liked them I might add). I would so appreciate suggestions. Thanks! Bonnie

For a special fine dining experience I don't think you can do better than Eqqus or Corbett's. I personally love the atmosphere at Corbett's in the refurbished historic home. The food is spectatcular at either.

Bonnie,

For a special anniversary, I'd highly recommend Corbett's. The place is drop-dead gorgeous and very romantic- the food, of course, superb.

I'd recommend Corbett's or Equus as well, though Proof is very good.

Also, we dined at Rivue this weekend and were VERY impressed. I'll post a more detailed review soon, but my wife and I both agreed it was now among our favorites in the city, and we like to think we have fairly discerning tastes.

Brad,

Please make sure to tell us more later- I have to admit, I'm personally surprised ( based solely on my stereotype formed from their other restaurants), so I'd love to hear about your experience.

I'll second Rivue. The wife and I had a wonderful meal Friday night. The food, service, and view were fantastic. Our server was very accommodating as we were in a slight hurry to make our Wicked show. She even boxed us up some candy from the candy cart. We had the grilled pork chop and seafood pasta. Both were fairly large portions and presented beautifully. They also have a lounge with a small, but interesting tapas menu.

Thanks, Brad- just read it. I definitely have a new view- I'll just have to go try it for myself now.

I definitely think Corbett's or Equus would be wonderful choices. Take a look at their menus on line and make your choice based on that since both have excellent food, service and atmosphere.

Thank you all so much. Both menus look great, but I have to say the Grand Tasting menu at Corbetts is very appealing! Thanks again for the input.
