I've done extensive research on this matter. The current forerunner would have to be the Granville Inn. Happy researching!

I've never been to the Granville Inn. Can you tell me about it?

Hands down winner: Shady Lane Cafe at 4806 Brownsboro Rd. Dressed with everything, homemade chips on the side. Owned and run by some very, very nice people Bill & Susanne Smith. Not only a fantastic chef but an accomplished poet as well.

http://www.shadylanecafe.com/menu.html for a great picture of the cheeseburger

A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.

The Granville is great, but I have to go with Cumberland Brews. If you're not averse to eating bison, then theirs is the best hands down. I eat mine with bleu cheese and bacon.

I think Baxter Station makes a really good burger. My husband used to get the Jager Burger - topped with Jagermeister salsa and jalapeno cheese.

Hey, we were there last night! Karen debated the burger vs steak frites, but she went w/ the steak. Tuna for moi. They were absolutely slammed and the kitchen backed up, but it's a great place to spend some time, so no problems there.

I desperately miss Ralph's Market in Shelbyville. I probably haven't ordered a burger out in years though, so I am no help at all! :D

On a good day, the Bristol Burger can be a contendah. I love it that they put it on an English muffin. Also, W.W. Cousins for extreme quality meat and that amazing toppings bar, although I find the counter service there has become more and more fast-foodish over the years.

Gotta say, though, that Georgia Burger at L&N is da bomb. I also remember with great fondness when BBC St. Matthews all too briefly had a "Kobe" (doubtless really domestic Wagyu) burger.
