Valentine's Day Events

by Paul Mick » Thu Jan 08, 2009 11:26 am

Does anyone know of any Valentine's Day events going on around town at local restaurants or other institutions? Last year I took my girlfriend to a Flogging Molly concert in Cinci, but there aren't any appealing concerts nearby this year. I am thinking about the ballet, Cinderella, at the Kentucky Center, but I would like to find a few alternatives before I purchase tickets.

Some things I've found:

"It's Prom all day long at Lynn's Paradise Cafe on Valentine's Day. Special drinks with souvenier glasses. Leisure suits and prom attire encouraged! Music and fun all day long. You can always expect the unexpected at Lynn's."

"Nothing excites the heart more than a moonlight cruise on the beautiful Ohio River. A delicious buffet dinner and music for your listening and dancing pleasure create the perfect romantic setting to impress your special Valentine." (Sprit of Jefferson)

"Looking for something romantic to do with your sweetheart this year? Why not give them the moon, the stars, and all of Louisville? Join our staff for a romantic candlelit hike through the Forest that ends with an incredible view of the lights of Louisville. The hike’s destination is the Forest’s beautiful Manor House where you’ll be greeted by a roaring fire to warm you up, hot beverages and desserts provided by local bakeries. Meets in the Horine Reservation."

"Do something different this Valentine's Day! Heat it up by entering the Glassblowing studio and blowing a kiss WITH or FOR your honey!"

"The American Red Cross cordially invites you to an evening of Wine and Roses on Valentine's Day, Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Paroquet Springs Conference Center in Shepherdsville, KY. Dinner, Dancing and Fantastic Lucky Heart Drawings Music by Karen Kraft and Kiks. Tickets $50 a person to benefit the Bullitt/Spencer County Service Center. For ticket information contact the Red Cross at 502-955-6259."

I'm sure there's more to come, but that's all I've found for now.

Turkey Joe's is doing a white tablecloth four course dinner for two for $40 bucks... you get a choice of appetizers, salad, entree's and a dessert. Also includes a complimenary champange toast. Chef chuck who is a very good friend of mine is going to be personally preparing all the meals, he has used his culinary skill for this special menu. This is a reservation only event so if anyone is interested give them a call at 327-9464.

Since we're now much closer to Valentine's Day, I figured I'd give this thread a bump back up and see if there are any new events going on. I suppose I was a bit premature when I first posted this.

I have two tickets to Jack Jones and the Lousiville Pops Orchestra at the Louisville Palace, Row M, seats 5 and 6. It also includes free parking and two tickets for "Foods Friends and Music" (small plates and beverage, wine or hard liquor extra). I won't be using them as I already have two other opportunites. PM me if interested

Just got an email pointing to this:

http://www.wfpk.org/CMS/?page_id=117811

It's a contest, but wouldn't be a bad evening if you win. Room at 21C and dinner at Proof, plus a concert.

Asiatique will have a special prix fixe menu with choices of our favorites for V-Day. Since V-Day will be on a Saturday this year and everybody and their mother will be out (hopefully not together, sorry mom) we will have a special menu offered along with our regular dinner menu on Friday and Sunday.

I just need to know if White Castle is doing the white tablecloth thing again..... I never go, but I just love knowing that the tradition lives on.
