Wine Sale

by Rick G » Wed Jan 07, 2009 11:35 pm

I know this is not really food related unless you like wine with your meal. I was in Party Mart today and saw signs that they are having a huge warehouse sale from 6:00-8:00pm next Tuesday. I inquired and supposedly the owner bought pallets of wine at a great price and is having a huge blowout sale for those two hours. What I really like is you can taste the wines that you are interested in right there at no charge. Just thought I would pass this on. Does anyone else have any info on this?

Where is the Party Mart at? I've always been a liquor barn and keg liquors person myself, but I'll go anywhere that has a wine sale.

I think its any 6 wines of your choice at no charge. They said something about state law, so you might be able to pay for more for more wines.

While I'm on the subject, I really do hate state liquor laws. Many of the regulations are so convoluted and arbitrary that I honestly believe our legislators were being purposefully malicious when they enacted them.

Greetings
The Warehouse Wine Sale at Party Mart is essentially just that. Wine Manager Vince Arnold and I have tasted through over 100 wines with distributors in recent weeks. Some wines are close outs, most however are inventory reductions. In the end we purchased around 400 cases of 30 different wines for this event. The wines originally ranged in price from $12 to $70. Sale prices will range $4 to $40. Upon arrival, guests will be given a wine glass and 6 tickets (no charge). Our "sampling" license allows us to provide up to 6 ounces of wine per customer and all wines will be available to taste. There is no option to "purchase" additional tickets (I don't look so good in those orange jumpsuits the state provides). Availability ranges from 2 cases to 60 cases of these wines. I haven't seen an event like this before and if it is successful, we will start buying again on Wednesday. Sale begins at 6PM on Tuesday, January 13.

Just got back from the tasting, and let me say it was a lot of fun. It was extremely busy, and I had my cart stolen twice and my wine stolen once, but the deals were definitely worth it. I hope you all do this again Jerry.

Wow...what a great event. The wife and I just got home with 5 cases. We are much poorer but much happier.

I could only afford a half-case and about a half-hour at the tasting, but it was well worth it. Definitely happy with my selections (two rijoas, two syrahs and two italians). I hope there's one again soon (and on a Friday when I get paid).
