Okay, continuing my new commitment to at least acknowledge the CJ's Saturday review if not award them a live link, Marty penned a love song to Maido today (a sentiment that I fully share, by the way), appropriately acknowledged that he's known there, and was given a remarkable 839 words by his editors - longest Scene review for many years - and ended up giving them 3 1/2 stars, providing further support for the theory that the CJ simply will not permit a four-star rating for an ethnic restaurant or any eatery that does not boast white tablecloths and a posh scene.
Still, it''s a strong positive for Maido, one of Louisville's hidden gems and one of my favorite restaurants in town. (For the record,
my Oct. 17, 2007 review used 1148 words and awarded 92 points, the equivalent of four stars. See how much easier it is when you use a more granular rating system?
