If I recall correctly, Marie, there used to be a chain spot (maybe in Oxmoor?) called La Creperie. The fad seems kind of '80s now, though, in retrospect, and I can't think of any place that specializes in them.

Vietnam Kitchen (and other Vietnamese spots) have banh xeo, which is a crepe-like egg pancake/omelet made with coconut milk and stuffed with crisp bean sprouts and tender baby shrimp. It's a delight, but maybe not what you're thinking of.

That is one of my favorite dishes in town. Delightful with a little sriracha sauce.

Wow, banh xeo sounds good! OK...Lemongrass, Cafe Mimosa, Zen Garden, or Little Saigon?

My husband often makes them for a weekend breakfast using the recipe from The Joy of Cooking. We fill them with preserves, but my children like to fill them with chocolate syrup and marshmallows. They are fun and delicious to eat and pretty simple to make from scratch.

One of these days I'll get down to Vietnam Kitchen, but I got some banh xeo from Lemongrass on my way home from work. I also got a papaya salad and Thai tea. It hit the spot!!! (Although the best Thai tea is from Yang Kee Noodle or Simply Thai)
