How'd the restaurant traffic look last night?

by TP Lowe » Thu Jan 01, 2009 10:15 am

I was at Limestone and they were thankfully slammed. Thought they would do at least 300 covers. How did it look where you were?

I don't know about last night, but Lynn's was packed this morning. I was the one in black satin jammies and curlers!!

We were at Morton's, early-ish, 7:30, and although it wasn't full right away, they were booked solid by the time we left (and friends were unable to get a reservation for New Year's when they phoned on Monday). We enjoyed the rest of the evening across the street at 21c and Proof looked booked to overflowing all night.

Volare was packed at 9 pm when we got there. People waiting. Still seating some diners at 10:30. Was full until about 11 pm when started to clear out.

De La Torres was full when we were there from 8-10:00. We had a great time, and they put us in one of the window tables, which was perfect.

Our NYE traditional dinner consists of crab legs and champagne. So we went to Mitchell's last night and they were full and still on a wait when we left at 9 pm.

*On a side note, where else in town can you get crab legs? I've been trying to find a good independent that serves them, but so far no cigar.

A group of us ate at Red Pepper last night and they were almost full.

My boyfriend had to work until 8:30ish so we chanced it and went to Morton's to sit in the bar--we ended up with a great back of the room table and split a bone-in Ribeye and a few sides plus the scallops wrapped in bacon. Everything was delicious and service was great! We had a very nice and early New Years Eve and enjoyed a long speed walk in the morning. Happy New Year to All!!! :D

What time were you at Limestone?
We were there from about 8:45pm until after 11:20pm. Apparently the head chef fired someone during the middle of dinner service. We still got great food and wonderful service, it was just an extremly long wait for our completed meal.

I left my comment on your Limestone thread. My lovely bride and I were in the corner at my "usual" table where I frequently take clients for lunch meetings. Nothing like hiding in the corner and being antisocial!

I'm really pleased you enjoyed Limestone. It's one of my favorites.

Impellizzeri's Pizza

Impellizzeri's Highlands had a record Wed. We were on a wait from 5:30 till 9:30. New Years Eve sales were up about 25% over last yr, which was a record Mon last year.

Impellizzeri's Brownsboro was near capacity for about 4 hours. Not quite as busy as the Highlands but we were very pleased.

That may show the difference in suburbia trends vs the Highlands/Frankfort Ave demo. In the 4 months we have been in the east end, we have seen a number of dining differences with the same concept.

Avalon was packed for both the New Years menu and in general.
