Give your taste buds the treat of a lifetime. Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana is hosting Desserts First on Thursday, January 29, 2009. This third-annual fundraising event will be held at the Louisville Marriott Downtown from 5:30pm-8pm and will feature a buffet of gourmet desserts made out of Girl Scout Cookies.

The public is invited to attend the event. Guests will sample cookie desserts and appetizers created by local restaurants. Restaurants include, but are not limited to, BabyCakes Louisville Cupcakery, Baxter Station, Bodega at Felice, Bravo! Cucina Italiana, Butterfly Garden Café, Desserts by Debbie, Gelato Gilberto, Holiday Inn Hurstbourne, Jefferson Community and Technical College Culinary Arts Program, Masterpiece Creations, The Irish Rover, The Jefferson Club, The Melting Pot, The Sweet Tooth, Bill's Famous Spreads, Blu Italian Mediterranean Grille, Kentucky Legend Ham, Mastersons, RAW Sushi Lounge, Shiraz, Varanese, Consumer Choice Coffee, Four Roses, and John Conti Coffee.

A panel of local celebrity judges will award the chef who prepares the best dessert. This cookie dessert extravaganza will also include a chance auction, music, signature drinks, a cash bar and hors d'oeuvres.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased for $50 per person. Corporate tables of 10 are $1,000. Reservations can be made online by visiting http://www.kyanags.org or via phone by calling the Girl Scouts Desserts First Hotline at 502-636-0900.

The Oakroom will be participating as well.

I put vegetables in your desserts, white chocolate with your fish and other nonsense stuff that you think shouldn't make sense, but coax the nonsense into something that makes complete sense in your mouth. Just open your mind, mouth and eat.

They also left LouisvilleHotBytes off the sponsor list. There's a lot more than is listed here.

I'm in! This'll be my third year.

True to form, I missed the deadline (Christmas week? They do know they're dealing with chefs, right?), but I found out today they'll still take me. Hooray!

Now if only I don't get schooled by "sushi". I lost two competitions last year to sushi versions of dishes!! (And the year before, I WON one with chocolate sushi).

Die, faux-sushi fad! DIE!!

Aw, David, it's been the most fun on-going inside joke between Marsha and I this past week, as you may have noticed by our "status updates"! And yes, crashing from too much coffee right now... need to go make more Costa Rican Tarrazu...

So how the heck do you get into this thing? I thought I raised my hand last year in some private emails, but the first I heard of it was the posting on here.
