Tidings of Comfort and Joy - let's go Caroling!

by Marsha L. » Mon Dec 15, 2008 2:19 pm

I know, I know, everyone's busy, your time's booked, you have too many events and family gatherings to attend, your shopping's not done yet, and it's going to snow tonight, so I figured, hey - let's add something else onto the calendar.

We talked briefly on the forum last year about getting together for Christmas caroling. I'm not religious, but I do love Christmas carols. And we have quite a few professional/semi-professional musicians in our midst, so some of us have been talking about going caroling next week. Monday, December 22 seems like a date that's not locked up for everybody. This will be a casual, barely- or non-rehearsed, "just give us the lyric sheets and we'll wing it" type deal. I don't care where we carol, but maybe we could end up at one of our beloved indies for some wassail action.

Yes, it's late to plan it, but c'mon - I had to spend my Christmas money at the vet, so it would help make my Christmas seem more "Christmas-y". This thread is to test the waters for possible participation. So post if you're in! (Need not be Christian to apply! We'll sing secular tunes, too!)

I'm IN!

Marsha,

Fortunately for all concerned Becky and I have plans for the evening...Otherwise at the sound of my "singing" voice dogs would howl, children would cry and SOMEONE would likely call 911. I hope you can muster some interest from other, more talented individuals because it is a wonderful idea

tonight from 6:30 to 8:00pm folks from the 'kentucky school for the blind' will be caroling to houses around the school. all they ask is that you turn on your porch light and come out to greet them. if your around that area, maybe you could join in. either way, happy holidays.

Would it help if we had a practice session somewhere, with tasty libations, and those who are interested but wary of singing in public could give it a try in a supportive environment of forum friends before committing to The Real Thing?

Man! We've got less than a week! Somebody throw out a suggestion for a practicing venue. Who's got a piano at their house?

No piano here ... not even a kazoo!
