Beer Sale at NABC

by Paul Mick » Sat Dec 13, 2008 4:47 pm

Anyone interested in great beer should definitely try to make the journey across the river to NABC by 6:30 today. Roger has opened up a temporary 'Christmas Shoppe' that has an impressive selection of Belgian ales, Dogfish head (left over from the Hootenanny), and a number of vintage beers dating as far back as 1987 (I believe). I personally picked up an english ale from 1996 and a barleywine from 2000. Additionally, they're selling off a large assortment of beer glasses for 2.75 each. The Shoppe is in the back of Prost, and well worth the visit if you have the time.

His blog said it may be open next weekend as well, if they still have enough left to sell.

Thanks. I suddenly realize that I forgot to mention it here, but note that today (Saturday) we have to close the sale down a bit early to accommodate a private party. I'll let everyone know if there'll be additional hours next weekend.

I picked up an assortment of beers there last night. I could not resist the 3 Floyds Alpha Kong, and there were still some 2002 Sierra Nevada Bigfoots available, just right for drinking.

I also picked up a single of Bell's Batch 7000, which was a tremendous stout. When this was released several years ago, I had held a 6 pack back for myself to age and sip on at my leisure. In a fit of great customer service, on of my employees sold my 6 pack to a customer who had been looking everywhere for it. I now do not store any of my stash beer at the store! Thanks to Roger for digging this one out of his treasure trove so that I could at least try one more of them.

I haven't talked to Mike, but as noted, we'll go back through the cellar and see if (a) we missed anything, and (b) whether a bit more ballast can be transferred. I'll come back and refresh this thread as soon as I know.

We'll be doing the holiday beer shoppe again this coming Friday and Saturday (December 19 & 20) from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. both nights.

The shoppe is set up at the rear of Prost (entrance from the Rich O's side of the building).
