Large Group Looking For Love

by Erin R » Fri Dec 05, 2008 11:25 am

On the second Sunday of each month members of our boradgame group http://boardgames.meetup.com/14/ get together at the Barnes and Noble on Hurstbourne for 4-5 hours of gameplaying. It has become a tradition, and expected, that afterwards many of us will go out for dinner. When we were at 5 – 10 people this was no problem, but lately it has been closer to 25 each month and growing. Friday’s has always been able to get us in, and if we think ahead we have a couple of other options, but we would rather spread the love to some of the great places we have around here, and, because we often have people who have just moved to town, show off what Louisville has to offer. There are only a few things we look for:

1. Separate checks
2. Low to mid range price options as our group ranges from students to professionals to retirees

It is a pretty laid back group, but we do get a bit noisy. Does anyone have any suggestions? We have no problems reserving in advance, but would like to have a list of 4-5 places that would be okay with us taking over a few tables on a Sunday.

Erin, I doubled checked with management where I work (Cafe Lou Lou) to make sure you could get separate checks with a party that big - the answer is YES! Just call in advance for reservations, 893-7776

Here is our website - the menu's not 100% correct on line, because we've recently added some things and changed others, but it'll give you an idea what our food's like. I told them I thought you were saying you didn't have to be all at one big long table, as long as the tables were near each other, is that right?

Thanks! This is exactly what I was hoping for. :D

We don't have to be all at one table as long as we are close to each other. I really appreciate the responses.

I realize that I'm becoming a part of the problem and not the solution, but I think I'll have to come out to your meeting next month. I always have a hard time finding enough people to play Twilight Imperium 3E with.

Dear Large Group Looking For Love, We would LOVE to have you at the Bristol on Hurstbourne. We are just on the other side of Shelbyville Road from Barnes & Noble, at 300 N. Hurstbourne. We are happy to do separate checks. Look at our menu on our web site bristolbarandgrille.com. We do accept reservations, and we have a semi-private room for groups of your size. Thanks, Susan

Thank you everyone! This has given us several great ideas (and few "why didn't we think of them before"). You all are fantastic.

New Albany might be a bit of a drive, but we'd could offer excellent accomodations at the Windsor Restaurant and Garden. We're normally closed on Sundays, but would be happy to open for a large party at no extra fee, which means you'd have a private dining room. We could also work out almost any kind of set menu in advance to fit into a variety of budgets.

DErby City Espresso has a quiet cafe kind of atmosphere you're looking for.
We serve all kinds of beverages and people can bring in their own food.
